With you on the bread front. Here they tend to replace salt with sugar in the dough mix, so not only are the loaves dull and soggy, but sweet as sin as well. Fortunately, if you know where to look, there're some European style bakers producing some cracking whole wheat breads. I now have a regular supplier. " I now have a regular supplier." ahem ... very good In Spain, I bought bread that looked like a baguette, but after eating we discovered was "san sal" ìirc? Which means "no salt"! It was literally like having your taste buds turned off! It felt like bread in your mouth, but no taste whatsoever! We made bread in home economics at school, it was perfect - but teacher for reasons best know to her wouldnt let us put salt in - I'm still bitter about that 24 years on lol. Yes it's a waste of time with no salt, might as well eat an ice cube There's a common misconception that any salt is bad for you. Use it sparingly but appropriately and there'll generally be no issues. It's very important to decent cooking. As the late Gary Rhodes used to say "Don't forget your seasonings they're SO important!". He's right - they can make or break a dish. There are of course the two extremes - my Mother In Law never puts salt in ANYTHING which irritates me no end - and my Dad, who thinks everything needs additional salt. I've seen him add salt to bacon before. How he's made it to 82 is beyond me... My late dad used to day “Bread at any price is a bargain” I think we all agree on that, as long as it is salted bread. My late dad used to say "everything's better with bread" but then he also used to love eating tripe, so his may not have been the most trustworthy opinion!

Not wishing to change the subject, but I was flicking through an old book the other day and found this article. Thought you might find it interesting. Yup, very interesting. And aware that this ground to a halt, when the Easter Bank holiday had been set aside for getting the body off the chassis and cleaning it up as far as I could go. But being pretty much disabled, and unable to even walk, let alone pick up stuff, and two weeks ago, mowing the lawn left me broken for two days....... This will not be happening for a bit, unless you are coming over to swing the spanner, along with a few other select me,bers. This is my excuse. As mentioned before. And what happened three weeks ago at just after 5.00pm with Mickey trying to film a burnout. So there you go, less fun than it seems.

I am 100% with your dad, not had decent tripe since my mum died 24 years ago. Do like a good one though.

I can't work out if this comment is the product of a dirty mind! In the case of this man...... All clean. Quite right!

Remember this little guy? Seemed highly unlikely that I would find one randomly, but then randomness is often what drives the fun factor in our hobby. Just think of the set of ZQ8 wheels that landed in my lap, sold to me by a guy who had no need for them, and did not realise how desperate I was to find a set to put the truck back to standard. Crazy stuff I know. It happens. Yesterday morning when I woke, a Messenger message from a good friend, Ric, in Chandler, Arizona. Asking whether I had found the rear tailgate pin yet to replace the stud and Nyloc nut currently fitted. Of course I had not....... So he offered to post one out to me, taken from his previous race truck, he is a keen Auto Cross driver and has a few other interesting cars stashed away, awaiting his attention. As he says, at his age, this is an affordable, reasonably safe, and skill improving sport to participate in. He does compete against all sorts of really powerful and capable kit, being that his truck is s along wheelbase, slow, slightly modified vehicle and his daily. He still works as an auto mechanic. So the previous truck had two non fault accidents, the second one being part of a 34 car pile up where he was car no 7 in the action. Leaving Truck No 1 looking sorry for itself. In the pile up the rear end got bent too, so he bought an identical truck to build the race parts over onto. So my day yesterday, other than my niggly back, actually ended really well, and another nice sunset. So much to be said for living rurally. Centre caps to finally be fitted later today, once they have been in the sun to harden the many coats of clear I added. Looking forward to this. Pleased to see you posted some memories! I was the 7th vehicle back from a stoplight when a VW Passat hit me at 70mph without braking, then deflected into 3 other lanes! The pics of the bed and chassis are AFTER I pulled the rear frame rails on the chassis back almost 2 feet and hammered the middle of the bed down about 18". The RR wheel was almost touching the cab after the wreck and I couldn't separate the bed or move the truck before. Latch pin is in the mail as of today, along with another surprise! 10-14 days international first class mail.

Such a little thing...... Much pleasure. Thanks mate.

Sorry to hear about your back grizz. Thank you very much mate. Its amazing, I desperately want to drain and flush the cooling system and replenish it with fresh coolant and antifreeze. (It has been on the list for a while) I simply cannot even try to drain or undo anything. Its a real pain, having this sort of incapacitating pain. Grrrrrrr..

I am still not tired of this truck. Yesterday I used it to go to the Osteopath. Before entering, a slightly faked smile, knowing I have walked out there like a cripple every time before. She really does not hurt you while working on your spine, but man..... afterwards, even getting off her table is a slow, painful, process. Afterwards yesterday I went to a favourite place to get a few pics on the new wheels and caps. How many times can I say that I am so chuffed with how these ended up. .

A great weekend in Kent. Sally wanted to get some plants in. My back continues to say NO. So she did it all. I paid. Strong woman. Also on the agenda was the go kart that Sally and Mickey unloaded after telling me off and telling me to step back. Rear wheels and axle are rusted solid, so I called on my last can of bootfair bargain Duck oil, to hopefully penetrate sufficiently. Offset seating to accommodate the side mounted motor on these. Two Nylocs, finger tightened held theone side crash protector. 3 minutes to remove. Thats better. Sally worked in the garden, I cooked a nice Beef Bhuna curry, now the house smells of air freshener, after having doors and windows open. A great weekend over all too soon.

I feel your L5 issues, got similar. I'm getting a spinal block on my L5 soon. RSI surgery in wrists too, and outcome determines whether the other end needs intervention in my cervical spine after that. All wibblepoo TBF.L5 is narrowing in the nerve cannal and a "benign" cyst pressing on my spinal column. The price of a mis-spent youth being invincible or just getting old, it's curse word whatever - crack on as best you can! Man hugs all round.

Censorship is all around, like Covid-19 Regarding my back, yup.....it is pretty rough on me. And unless people understand, or have it themselves, they cannot even start to have an idea of just how debilitating it really is. And agreed, living hard has its rewards, not always positive either.

i love battle weary flags. Mate Gary, Mr Zog in Florida recently messaged me to see if I wanted his old flags before he replaced them. Of course, I also offered to pay the postage. Today the postman brought a box. Surprise Included was a t-shirt hoody I had asked him to get for Sally. Loads of things, including a new embroidered Stars and Stripes.... And these brilliant license plate screws,]] Ideal for a personal plate. Also happening currently, 4 houses from me, not ideal for a truly knackered back...... A partial house demolition and rebuild Resulting in so much free wood. All going to be burned. Licensed to scavenge. So over the next few days, with Sally as primary donkey, I will be dragging some of this lumber home, firstly to be de-nailed and to remove all the screws, then store it for further use. Including garden bed edging and some shoring for the new concrete driveway strips. Weekend soon.
