Recently dug out my 2, an FF01 Mondeo that was a present from my dad in 2001, run over by a car in 2002, and rebuilt in 2009, and a TL01 Subaru I bought cheap on ebay a couple of years back. Kids are getting old enough to use them now so was fun dusting them off, TL01 is on a standard MSC and silver can so not fast or refined but works well, but something is amiss with my FF01, all plugged in the Tamiya ESC just beeps, as though it's not detecting a radio signal, I don't want to start taking bits off the TL01, do we think the ESC or the receiver in on the blink? Also, if anyone has a quick drive Tamiya that's ready to run going cheap, or another 1/10 model, drop me a message, as the Mondeo is mine, and I'm already getting bored of the "it's been 5 minutes it's my turn" arguments

Have you tried swaping the ESC over?
I just bought my 8 yr old a ftx Vantage running with a battery was £110.00
Works out cheaper than buying a used Tamiya, prices are high at the moment. I have an old TA03F pro that I need to get running, its a front motor one like yours but 4 wheel drive, should be fun when I get it going.

I may have a few motors and ESC's sitting around from my RC days before I went brushless and nitro.
I'll dig them out when I get home later, won't be looking much for them at all.

What model esc is in it? If its tamiya all the manuals can be found online. It may be that the receiver isnt receiving any signal. What rx and tx are you using? Same tx for both cars?
Had about 25 tamiya but some them all about 10 years ago. Started buying again though and am back up to 10 again already 😂
Bloody things, i just cant help buying them!

It's a te101-bk, so old, but working when the receiver is removed from the TL01, so guessing a dead receiver. Different xtalls for both cars, cant remember the frequency off the top of my head. All worked when packed away though. Guess some things just don't appreciate not being used.

Crystals can play up. Try swapping them so you know if ita the crystal or the receiver. I don't have any receivers i don't think, pretty sure i sold them all when i went 2.4ghz but ill check tonight. I still have a load of crystals if you need though.

I'm at a toy auction today which has maybe 20 tamiya cars for sale from the 90's and early 00's. If i win then they will go up for sale at about £80 each.

I just had a bit of an impulse purchase, an old Stadium Blitzer, of course I had to buy a re-pro shell and decals along with NOS wheels and tyres to make it mint. Gets expensive!

I was chatting to a mate about this kinda stuff the other day. He hadn't seen my Tamiya Mini so I am going up to the loft to dig it out and give it a run....if it still works, it's been a good few years since it was unleashed.... Just checked on eBay to see what they fetch strong money, mine even has all the box/instructions and Beatties carryall

I've got my lad a tt02 lancia integrale for xmas this year, hes 10 and loves getting stuck in with the tools so with a bit of guidance this is his project. I'm jealous already and will probably end up with one myself too.

Myself and my boys quite often go to the local woods with a Subaru Brat, a Konghead and a Boomerang, makes for a fun afternoon out.
