Traxxas TRX-4 Defender. Portal Axles, Front/Rear locking differentials and a 2 speed gearbox for high/low range. All selectable from the transmitter. Runs best on a 3s Lipo. Absima AB3.4, with a "GoolRC" 4300kv brushless motor and ESC Most of the plastic is made from the same stuff as a yoghurt pot so breaks really easily. The purple bits are off an HSP or WLToys which are pretty much the same car. Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX. Absolute monster. Supposedly 50mph, if you can keep it on the floor. And finally, the Tamiyas. The Rising Fighter on the Right is bone stock, other than the steering arms I'm in the process of beefing up. The lunchbox has ball bearings and oil dampers, and that's about it these days. It did have a sport tuned motor in but I've removed it so my youngest can play with it. Only the Tamiya's are running Nimh batteries now. Everything else is brushless.

Got out again with a Tamiya Lunchbox and Midnight Pumpkin today . Both survived well , just a broken body mount on the Pumpkin .

That TA01 chassis brings back memory’s I had a TA01 chassis with an escort cosworth body back in 1996 ish when I was a kid Snapped chassis tubs, bent front to rear drive shafts, stripped gears in the rear gear box, snapped motor mounts and the lame speed controller (got through loads of these) Of course all these parts can be replaced with the “hop up” uprated parts Which lasted a bit longer But it should really have come with them as standard
I also had a Tamiya mini and bmw z3 which to be fair we’re pretty reliable

The TAO1 is a classic, mine is still a runner if I ever find the time to use it along with all the others. I've starting showing my 18 month old my youTube videos of mine running and he looks interested, i'm waiting until he is about 3.5 then I will unveil the contents of the loft and the many Tamiya cars to him

I'm forever replacing partwhen they arrive for refurb due to cracks etc I remember there were several revisions to the TA01 chassis, there was a sort of honeycomb added and some extra strengthening around where the rear gearbox attaches I loved buying the hop up parts because of the Japanese writing on the packaging 😂 I. Mine had uprated 1piece cv shafts all round Steel roller bearings All round Alloy motor ring Steel pinion Carbon prop shaft Uprated rear gearbox gears and shafts (the tall gear was a lot stronger plastic) I think I Also had a 620 motor it was definitely not standard It had a Audi A4 Touring car body As the escort body was a bit battered I had to sell all my Tamiya rc stuff (I also had a Tamiya king hauler)To pay towards driving lessons and my first car 👍 My 2 eldest sons are into RC crawlers

That shell looks great, where did you buy it from? I've been building a replica of one of my real cars on a TT02. The wheels are wrong, and I have real alloy black ones on order so it's correct. I spent ages doing it, then my neighbour saw it and said, "err, shouldn't the roof be black" Arrrgh, how the hell did I miss that! I'll just have to wrap it now, makes it even more realistic! The wheels are actually for a Brat project to make a replica of my real one.

Very cool. I love the Brat body. The Skyline body is made by Killerbody. They make a range of J cars as well as some Alfas.

Some lovely models. I've got an original '89 King Cab in its box upstairs. Must roll it out, it's not been used in a long time!

I would like to have a full set of these trucks, I have the Stadium Blitzer which drives really nicely with a few mods, but I'd love a Toyota Monster Racer and a King Cab to go with it. I could be interested in it if you were selling.

Always had a thing for tamiya. Had loads over the years, currently have a brat/blackfoot hybrid, grasshopper, lunchbox, terra scorcher, egress, super astute, 58008 Lamborghini countach lp500s, ta02sw black porsche, heavily modified stadium thunder, modified vanquish and tt02 race car Got an original rc10 gold pan and a schumacher procat too. All get used, built a small garden racetrack and go to rc 'track days' with a group of friends. I'll see if I can find any pics.
