Standard torque is low, but is 2 stages, first 39nm, 2nd being +90 deg. So sorry to read of the latest development You've stuck with it so far, be a shame to give up now. I'd give it a few weeks before committing to selling/giving up on it. Either way it's been a journey of ups and downs that I have been fascinated to follow, well done for getting this far If it counts for anything, my vote is to keep going.

So firstly I need to apologize. I kinda disappeared off here without a lot of warning. Me and the lexus are done unfortunately. I've put the hours in and been rewarded with nowt. And now I need a clean break from it before I send my self daft.
It actually sold a month ago on eBay took a deposit and held it for best part of a month at request of the buyer! On the day it was meant to be collected (after going into work at 6:30 as agreed) I get a sheepish phone call saying his Mrs has kicked off and he can't buy it anymore!!
Needless to say I was furious after turning several potential buyers down over last month. And surprisingly he's not getting his deposit back (time wasting swear word)..
As it happens ive found a new toy. Summat I've fancied for a while. but that can be a secret til lexus goes...
Speaking of lexus going if someone wants it il take 6.5k and not a penny less. It's got 2 weeks and if it's not gone il be breaking it (for much more). It just needs to go now.
Anyways il be back. Hopefully with summat just as fun. And a bit less stressful
Cheers

Six and half grand? A bargain even if somebody just wanted it N/A.
Wishing you good luck with sale. Looking forward to hearing about the new motor.

Thats got to be the bargain of the year at 6.5K, if I had the money I would be getting a cost to have it transported. Sadly i'm banned from buying any more cars at the moment.
Good luck with the sale :-)

Can fully understand why you're selling up mate, it's a real shame after all your hard work The thing that would bug me for the rest of my days is not knowing why it went wrong and tearing it apart would ease my mind, that being said you would be half way to fixing it!

It apears I've got terrible at replying too. Life seems a bit hectic at minute.
Yeah 6.5k is a bargain for sure. It will break for way more and tbh I could do without the hassle of stripping it. But it needs to go so has til next Monday then will be stripped.
And new car is polar opposite of this. If the lexus was a chainsaw new one is more like a surgeons scalpel haha. All will be revealed in due course tho
Cheers

Hello Internets! Terrible at replying, life/work/kids/house/caravan (didnt mention I'd bought a wobble box to take the kids away did I, oh and a new daily.. again!) mean I've had little time for salivating over other people's creations.. what I have done is... This could be the last post in here. Well for the lexus, not for me I'm like a bad smell, think it's gone then back again 🤣. It got it's deadline to sell whole. Many many many time wasters later (mainly who wanted a chat at 11pm over messenger etc then disappear next day) and the chance of selling whole came an went. I tentatively listed the high value items, I didn't want to start stripping til someone commited to a significant amount of money. I had visions of being stuck with 95% of a car I couldnt shift.. well I needn't had worried as my phone blew up. Now I no what a newly single attractive female on FB feels like when they change there status to "single". My phone went mad 😂😂 Told everyone, it was deposits to hold bits, cash on collection. Bank transfer or PayPal f&f. Don't like it.buy it from elsewhere.. my no nonsense listing seemed to work Started pulling engine out as that had sold. Along with loom ECU injectors clutch gearbox even diff. Basically running gear front to back. Just like that I'd got the money back I was asking for the whole car. And still had the btcc kit, wheels, lights, panels, seats etc etc.
This was all very pleasing for my bank. And my boss since I'm kinda turning work into my dumping ground for toys. So was I sad. Il be honest. No. It was more a relief. No more expensive rebuilds. No more failed attempts. No more skinting myself for something I couldn't use. I set out to home build 500bhp. And I did it. Not many folk will ever get to say that. Yeah if it worked as intended I'd probably still be smoking round in it now (not far granted at the average 12mpg it was doing). But it didn't. It's been parked since march and I've not missed the aggro! That chapter is closed. Onto the next one. Speaking of which I think it deserves a build thread. Especially since its now insured As a parting pic. Here's the lexus in its final resting state. Shell will be going early next week. And I can start fresh If anyone wants to build one, I still hav the btcc kit, still have the wheels, and until early next week all the trim and rubbish. But that will be going when shell goes.. Lastly. Thank you. Thanks for sticking through my aimless waffle. My very up ups an my very very low lows. I feel like last 3 year this thread and car have been part of my life. And in some instances been the only thing keeping me sain (and causing me to go insane in equal measures). Hopefully the new car will do what I'm hoping (i.e be a car I can use, won't bankrupt me, run etc) and I promise I won't strap a turbo to if (who am I trying to kid I've already been measuring up the real estate)😂 Cheers

First of all, it is a good thing that you are getting your money back and that you are in a good place! Really sad to see the car dismantled and stripped. It was such a cool project. All your faffing about, the ups and downs have been very entertaining to read about. I don't like that you are unlucky and things blow up, but you make it into very interesting reading. I will have a look at your new project, and cross my fingers that it goes well.

Sad to see it stripped for parts but fully understand the aggro of selling whole and timewasters. Interested to see the replacement.
