Well that's something of a debate depending upon your viewpoint - but the real proof is in the results when the checkered flag drops - I trust that you will be all eyes when it does Well if I had the means, I'd not have the lightweight in my garage over the Zagato regardless of how they finished in a race I've been watching Lightweight E-types race since the mid 80's and I know they can be impressive when pedalled well, but ... still no DB4 Zagato David - I was more hinting at the outcome of such marquees when they do battle at Revival - apologies if was being cryptic - never worked on a DB4 of any guise but done a couple of DB 5 & 6's - wonderful engineering - E types were everyday occurrences through & after my apprenticeship - a lot cruder put together but still a real nice piece of automotive engineering to work upon

Not a bad reincarnation but I have seen better Show me, show me Malcolm Hamilton's car in its various guises is in with a shout too That is a very nice etype, not seen it before. But if were going to have a game of Etype top-trump, i'll play this card. Still my favourite.

I just don't "get" the whole rusty rat look thing. I know quite often a hell of lot of work goes into them, and I appreciate that, but hey, we'd all be boring if we all liked the same thing. I don't mind an E-Type, but it's not on top of my "must-have" list. I remember seeing the E-Type +2 with pinstriping driven by the hitman in the John Wayne flick Brannigan when I was about 7. Thought that was cool back then. It was the late 70s

Well, at least it 'rescues' an otherwise probably scrap E-type body. OK - it's been 'Dub-scummed', but at least it's not just sitting there somewhere rotting away even more... The remarkable thing is, how did they manage to fit Jaguar wire wheels to presumably VW Beetle front hubs, and if they were clever enough to do that, why not fit them to the back as well, instead of that Weller wrongness?

Returning to the previous discussion, I don't really see the Zagato DB4 resemblance You don't see this: In that?

If we are talking modded e-types, then I rather like these... Good friend of mine was a painter for them for many years so I know what goes into them and they are simply stunning in the flesh, certainly provided inspiration for a little project of mine. Still not sure about the price tag though! Be interesting to see what becomes of the ratty one...

Returning to the previous discussion, I don't really see the Zagato DB4 resemblance You don't see this: In that? No, not really effendi. The Aston is a far more muscular, squat affair whereas the Jaaaag is more elongated and elegant. Dare one say "effete"? Maybe not so obvious in photos but in real life the Zagato DB4 seems tiny, blunt and thuggish

Therefore that must make the E type more elongated (has already stated), sharkish & menacing I find them both quite elegant, both in pictures and in real life. Coincidentally this just popped up on Hoonigans

would it be unfair to say *some people don't like E types because allot of people like E types ? a bit like the interaction between teenagers and new bands, E type is too main stream and popular?

I think it would be fair to say I don’t like E types because of the type of people who typically own E types.
When you get one that’s not a boring factory resto or a historic race rep, and isn’t owned by someone who can’t believe it isn’t the best car ever created and elevates all involved with its creation to godlike status, they become more interesting. Like this thing in the OP, it’s a full of pile of curse word, but that’s what makes it different.
Same goes for pretty much all ‘premium’ classic cars though, generally speaking the more a car is worth the bigger the dickhead that’s gunna own it.

I think there's an element of truth in this. For me personally, there are cars in standard(ish) form that I don't even bother glancing at at car meets, and that's because they're always there, and I'm bored of them by now, and I always feel it lacks a degree of imagination to own one and bring it along to 'show it off'. I do realise there are obvious flaws and short-sights in that attitude, but it does affect my opinion to a degree. Two of the most highly regarded classics fall into this 'Meh' category for me are e-types and Mustangs. They're the absolute mainstream of their genres.

I've met some awesome people that own some ridiculous valuable cars over the years. However there is this kind of mid-tier classic thing where people can get very sniffy about who is looking at their car or whatever. However I think you get that in all walks of life and hobbies, it isn't so much the object as the people that own them. I've also come across super awesome people that own mid-tier classics as well. Back to the subject at hand ... ratty e-type shell on a chassis

And 911s. call me mr mainstream then....e type & 911..my 2 absolute dream motors. ruining , sorry , i must not be negative or ill get shouted at , (dis) tastefully modifying e types is not a modern phenomenon. mind you even a brown s3 can be improved depending who is driving it... or a little "fettling"...

or a little "fettling"... Thought that E Type was doing an impression of the US president for a moment until I realised they're hay bales... One E Type that sticks in my mind was the nicely "well used" looking one at RRG13 at Prescott Pinched from a Flickr album in this thread RRG 13 Galleries

Doesn’t seem that long ago that E-types were old fashioned unreliable piles of junk that nobody wanted, tbf I think a lot of Americans still think that. 😂
