I saw a car today in widnes, it was a red convertable, it was going the other way on a single carrageway, so i didnt see it properly, but it looked exactly like Honda did a copy of the MGB back in the day.
Vertical back lights, but where flat , and i thought it was a mgb until it was quite close too..
any idea what it was?

Not sure about looking like a Honda but a Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger would be right era, has vertical rear lights and could maybe pass for an MGB?

i don't think it was a fairlady, i would have recognised the headlights and the rear ones where all in one and flat.
Not the sunbeam, i know those and want one!
it wasnt a big car, it looked quite small really, black lights flat, and not like clear lenses, they looked a bit strange really. I didnt see any badges on it, i only saw it quickly as it passed. It just looked like a 1970;s honda version of a mgb. Maybe i didnt see it right when it passed.

It could have been a Fiat 850 Spider, the rear lights on those can look quite dark from certain angles, they're also tiny, about the size of a Midget. Alternatively, it could have been a Fiat 124 these are more MG B sized and have more of an MG type front with the grille sticking out a bit further than the headlights. They've also got horizontal flat rear lights. Neither is anything like an MG side by side with one, they just have the same sort of 60s/70s sports car vibe to them.
