That is a beautiful car munkyI am not sure it would be right for me though, just too nice. At $7500 it would be about $3000 to land over here too, were the shipping stars aligned I wonder what other more desirable stuff he has to sell from that barn.

I posted this question on the 4th of July on a section of Garage Journal that is not accessible unless registered and past a certain post count, so thought I would copy and paste the replies from there as they are posted. Made for some interesting reading. My question. Happy Independence Day America Or should it be Fireworks Day? Some of you know me from my thread in the Garage Gallery section or questions asked here before. I do own a 66 C10 (in bits, mid resto) and a 79 2WD V8 Auto Blazer (currently for sale to make space for something a bit smaller) Ohh, and I live in London, England. I am looking at possibly buying a 54 Bel Air in 4 Door shape with straight six, and Powerglide Auto. It needs a new gas tank, complete floor, seat upholstery, carpets, and more attention. It does not need new paint, chrome etc, unless it is to replace some of the badly damaged front bits. So my question is really around driving, owning and living with them. Reliability for motor and auto trans. Secondly, has anyone modified one of these?? V8, modern trans etc. Thank you for any input, photos and links to builds if you have them. I am kinda in love, till someone shows me something more interesting :bounce: Floors. Motor. So, am I a fool....?? ALL THE REPLIES SO FAR.
SOME REALLY INFORMED OPINIONS THERE.QUESTION THREAD ON GJ here: www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425416

Continuing on the 54 Bel Air theme craigrk and I have spent hours talking about it and all the potential permutations of buying it. Including the cost of modifications and service parts and upgrades. Not cheap by any means but it will mean a decent safe car if it gets bought. More later.

See, now you are talking again!! An awesome looking, practical Grizz mobile!! Can be used as camper, animal transporter, boot fair transporter!! I like that a lot! This thread finally gave me the impetus to sign up and join the forum after a long time (years!) browsing. Not only does it tick a lot of my boxes in terms of subject matter, Iβve been through a lot of the problems and decision making processes grizz is going through in choosing his next car. I own one of the above, albeit a 1954. I imported it about three years ago from California and I believe itβs the only one in the country. If you think finding parts for a β54 Chevy will be hard and expensive, try finding them for an obscure Mopar station wagon they only made about 9000 of 65 years ago! Fortunately mine was complete and not missing any trim etc, but the basics and little things still soon start to add up....bear that in mind when making your decision as things can spiral quickly!

someone take my name in vain???
being brutally honest , the white one (i'll call it that because i'm still not sure what it really is) ..is nice. but call me a cheap date and very predictable but i am a sucker for age/patina/weathering or whatever you want to call it , as long as its original and not faked. I'm still in the more door camp at the moment.

Over in Colorado this has no front end. But look at the lines. $900.00 starting point. I would.

I'm still in the more door camp at the moment. I'm with you strikey, original unmolested wins over unknown shiny. When I first saw this Dodge Wagon, while I like it, the parts question, etc concerns me. The '54 more door is similar enough mechanically to a number of well catered for Chevy's that I'm sure it will be fine. Oh, and I'm very much a Chevy guy in case no-one guessed yet.
