What's a 24 year old gotta do when he falls in love with a beautiful and expensive classic car?
Buy the lowest priced one he can find and then try and build something crazy out of it. I found this stingray back in feburary on ebay USA for around 9k, description was vague at best and the pics looked like they had been taken on a 1.2mp phone camera in 2004, I shot the seller a whatapp message and made him a silly offer which he eventually took. Throw in a 5 month delay getting parts sent to his house, almost as much spent on parts as I did on the car and a week of me trying to get it to start and we arrive here. Heres a walkaround if anyone is interested, new to this Youtube video stuff.

Look forward to seeing the progress & potential problems. Always a sexy shape & there should be plenty of options available to upgrade or change things. My grandfather had a Big-block example & had it fully repainted but didn't appreciate the outward visibility or steering so eventually sold it while keeping his drum-braked 327 '64 model!

Good effort! If you can't blow all your money on an old car when you're 24, when can you?? You seem to know a good bit about these cars, so I'm sure you've had a look at the rust situation? I seem to recall that the frame on C3's can take a battering if they're not looked after. Good luck with it anyway, I'm impressed by your chutzpah!

Its amazing how you can do relativly little to these and you end up with a car that you wouldnt beleive was designed in the 60's. Good choice.

Thank you for the kind words! Yes rust is a HUGE issue on these, people assume because they're fibreglass it isn't. The frame and birdcages can rust out and render a car spares only, not worth repairing. Thankfully my risk paid off and the seller wasn't lying when he said this one is absolutely rock solid, nothing more than surface rust on the frame and the birdcage has nothing at all. Will probably por15 the frame at some point to make sure it stays this way.
Re my knowledge of these cars, I spent the 5 month wait reading pretty much everything on the internet about these cars LOL, made the wait a little easier

That's good news, if it's not suffering from rust problems then everything else should be fixable...might be frustrating, but do-able.
Reading-up on the car is a brilliant plan, when you come across problems it feels much less daunting when you can say "ah, this'll be that such-and-such thing I read about".
I'm sure you'll have it running in no time.

It looks like it's going to be a fun, and depressing at times, project and well done for taking it on and keep up the video logs

Speedway wiring harness just arrived. £209 delivered, absolute bargain and can be had even cheaper if you buy from the states. Really nice quality.
For some reason uploading pics on here Is a nightmare, when I select a file it says uploading then just disappears??

Good luck! I agree with getting your dream car whilst young, then you've got the rest of your life to enjoy it (I got my S30 Z last year at 26 and it too was one of the cheapest available ) I'm interested to see how your wiring turns out I've been looking into a painless wiring harness potentially for my car but if this goes well I might consider one of these too.

Almost finished installing the loom, it was pretty simple although the speedway instructions are curse word, painless has a huge pdf instruction manual online and it's really helpful with sorting out the lights and stuff. Discovered the wiper motors dead, spent £150 on a replacement. Can't get the electric windows working and struggling to find a wiring diagram online Vette parts are stupidly expensive and everything seems to break, is this what owning a ferrari is like? Good news is she now starts up right away everytime you turn the key and the headlamps, indicators hazards ect all work fine at last.
