I had a Sirocco with that auto box many moons ago, as legend said it should kick down if you welly it, especially being the 2.2. There are adjusters on the cable linkages for the kickdown that enable you to have a play and get the 'floor' point to where you want it, there should be a bit on it in the Hayes book of lies I spotted in an earlier post. I know mine definitely benefitted from a quick 15min play to take the slack out of the cables (I'm guessing they are probably the originals which have stretched a bit over time)
