Hi everyone, Having sold my Trabant I was getting classic car withdrawal symptoms. Had my eye on this Lada for a while and it suddenly was put up for sale so I ended up buying it on the same day. It’s in pretty decent condition with no work really needed, I’m going to keep it original and hopefully go to a few shows in it. It’s an LHD import and is classed as historic so MOT and Tax exempt. Everything is original, right down to the LW/MW radio.   |

That looks lovely.
Years ago when everyone was shipping Ladas back to Russia my mate and me started sending them to the Caribbean islands where they were used as taxis.
Because everyone in Russia could now have a car there were no second hand ones that could be split for spares for the taxis.
During this time I bought loads of them. (At one point I had 12 parked outside the house waiting to be picked up, and the neighbours went mad). But the more I bought the more respect I got for the Lada.
They were cheap,reliable transport. And even had a tool kit and inspection light that would put BMW to shame.
All in all a great little car!

Spark plugs cleaned, distributor / points cleaned and twin carb adjusted. Now starts on the button immediately and sounds excellent.
Thinking whether to go for black and white number plates as they're road legal for a car of this age...

Thinking whether to go for black and white number plates as they're road legal for a car of this age... i would just settle for period correct sized font plates. i don't know if the style with plastic letters on alloy plates are still available but i would have thought they would look just "right"! remarkable looking car though. |

Just ordered myself a valve tap for the interior heater as the original one is leaking a bit - apparently a common issue due to rust build up after 4 decades of use. The new valve will have ceramic parts so this won’t ever be an issue.

not cheap (in comparison to acrylic) but boy would they look the part!! *edit.... just realised these guys are only 25 miles or so from me , yet never heard of them. I’ve used them previously and the plates are worth the money, they look brilliant 👍 |

Crazy cars! I saw a guy somewhere that put a 1UZFE V8 in one of these. It's been several years but man that thing was cool. Yours looks to be in great shape!

Olga looks brilliant. Only Lada I ever drove was my cousin's and it was exactly the same as that. Always had a soft spot for Eastern Bloc cars probably as my dad drove Skodas from the 80s. Nice to hear its staying standard.
