I'm amazed at his work rate. With me that would have involved a lot of sighing, looking out the window at the drizzle, drinking lemon tea and listening to Leonard Cohen's greatest hits. Then I would start work VERY SLOOOOOWLY. He is a marvel. Maybe something more upbeat than Leonard Cohen would help ? 😂

Don’t forget there was a period of radio silence so progress may be appear faster than reality !
Personally I think he may have some captive metalworking elves in the cellar that help

OMG 'Leonard Cohen's greatest hits - wow - I would have to find something to slit my wrists with after filling my ears with concrete before I listened to him

Right then with the great 'Leonard Cohen' banished from the workshop I continued with some progress Onwards with the stripping So a few stripping tips coming up - paint stripper will eat in to most trim / some plastics / all varnishes etc and make a proper mess of them - either remove the items or ensure that are well masked up / protected Score dense / thick paint surfaces but be careful not to score too deep into the panel - especially if its alloy Don't faff around dabbing it on here & there - if you want results plaster the stripper on fairly thickly and leave for a good while - 40 - 60 mins for it to have effect - but don't let it dry out either - scrape back and then reapply Protect the floor surfaces with some masking paper or similar has it makes cleaning up a doddle Once you have the majority of the paint off - use a wad of medium course wire wool with the stripper and give the panel a scrub with it - this makes easy work of getting into all the awkward areas and cleaning the final areas of paint off - needless to say you need the correct eye protection, coveralls & gloves - you also need to work in a well ventilated area has the fumes can be quite powerful So the bonnet can now be removed And the remaining parts on the bulkhead removed The alloy bonnet hinges are failing But the club has had new ones cast More to follow tomorrow

the new cast hinge pieces look very nice , the more we see the more the club really seem to be on top of their game. very impressive!

It's not as bad as the end credits on an Avengers film though.

Humblest apologies, I had thought about bookmarking without mentioning it, but that would have been rude.

Bookmarked, back on the forum just in time, look forward to more updates Unbelievable with all the hidden bodges you uncover, but it must be great for the owner with the knowledge they are going to get their car back in the state that it should be...

Bulkhead stripped There are 6 bolts that attach the body mountings to the chassis These are the front ones and will be replaced with plated items Rears and on their original mountings too Now I could start to release the rear shroud alloy skin from the car It's largely retained by rivets Copper rivets at that - with the upper shroud edge dressed over the top of the rear frame And at the rear the skin fastens to a small frame around the spare wheel flap You just have to work carefully in order to avoid any damage to the alloy skin Off it comes to reveal the supporting body structure Factory manual details the body frame arrangement - they were all hand built so lots of reference images & measurements followed before I ventured further

Love that manual. That’s the sort of literature I enjoy reading through.
