My Alfa GT Junior has had lots of welding recently (naturally!). It needs a respray following this so I started rubbing it down myself. Got a few panels in and realised I should leave it to the professionals! So the body is looking very patchy and mismatched. While I gather funds for a full respray I thought I'd embrace the rat look for a while and run it around over the winter. Dragged out the old roof bars, and stuck on a roundel, voila! These are lovely looking machines, the stance with these wheels/tyres looks spot on. The rat look is fun but it'll be a great thing with a respray, are you sticking with the green?

Thanks, I've had it 12 years or so and never really liked the green to be honest. I'd prefer to change colour to a grey or dark silver but it just comes down to funds.

I love the green but if you've looked at it for 12 years then it's a good time for a change. As above, the wheels and stance are great.

That looks very cool. You see plenty immaculate ones ( which are also very cool) but you don't see many like this. It would be nice to see it left as is

I think it would get more attention as is than if it was restored. I'll say it again - that is cool

That looked more solid than it is all over. It's a shame as I like the patina. But unless I can stop the bodywork destroying itself (it lives outside) it may well see paint in the future. I do love the look of that! Almost tempted to flash over the car carefull in a matt lacquer. I have no idea how a ceramic coating would save it from the elements.

That is down right amazing. I'm not always sold on 'rat look', but 'in daily use' is a totally different matter. Aside from the great colours combo/wheels/ride height, I think its the mud and roof rack kinda give that vibe. I think having it resprayed in the end is definitely the right way to go, you can still rock the survivor look without the primer showing through.
I'm also all for sticking with the green. Theres some to be quite a few getting resprayed in greys/dark silvers currently, seems to go hand in hand wit the resto-mod kinda scene. I think the BRG has much more of a survivor / oily rag kinda vibe, which just feels more honest to my eyes. Your car though, you gotta do what makes you happy whether the internet agrees with you or not! haha.
I missed the boat with these, I was very taken with the idea of buying one before I got my Lancia a few years ago, but in the end the Lancia won me over and now the prices have gone up considerably!

Thanks a lot, agree on all counts. The grey is a very current colour admittedly. If it does go back to green then it’ll be a darker shade of green. It was originally Pino Verde I believe which just doesn’t work for me. It’s then had a number of repaints over the years in varying shades so difficult to tell what it is now. Love Lancia’s, my neighbour has a Fulvia which makes a great pairing with the Alfa

Yes, I slapped some clear laquer over the exposed bits as it started rusting within days.
