Great work so far, a question, are you going to pull this down eventually and do a full rebuild like the Police Car? Is it going to end up in your workshop? Probably not. This will be more a rolling resto. Ill make a proper decision once ive got it mot'd.

If i can i would like to try and salvage the bonnet. Its extremely rusty where the hinges bolt to the frame and ill have to bash the worst of the dent out so it will actually close!

Last night I was working in the dark again. I stripped off the front end including bumper, underbelly panel, spoiler, headlights etc and unbolted the bonnet. I got bored and went home. Woke up this morning to stunning sunshine and next to no wind, HURRAH! Daylight brings partly stripped front end and sun! My plan was to finish welding up the drain area on the bulkhead, then chop out the scuttle and maybe make a start removing the windscreen. But as the scuttle drain is really a crucial area I took my time and did it right. That meant actually cutting out the rust, properly preparing the donor panel and putting epoxy on both parts before I weld them together. That should keep them protected in the future. Rusty bit cut out and patch tacked in Welded and sanded flat Prepped new donor panel Mixing epoxy Slapped loads of epoxy on, including over the clutch master mounting area that I welded up previously. Forgot to take photos, but its shown in the video later. Then turned my attention to the bonnet. It is quite evidently scrap, but for the moment I would like to keep it. Top surface looks solid (apart from the massive dent). However the frame has rusted through where the hinges attach. So I have made some quick and dirty strengthening plates. Plated and then covered in the dregs of the epoxy I mixed up. Wont flex now.

Your 'in the dark' efforts are brilliant. Wish I had that sort of motivation at this time of year!

Great work on the bulkhead and repair panels. What needs to be done to get it driving? have you had a chance to get the wheels off or have a look underneath yet?

Jim, pretty sure I have a set of non-washer bumpers, let me know if you're struggling to find any.
Also, I don't suppose you need any wheels, but I do have a set of lattice 15" (not Vitesse ones) at 7J for more modern rubber.
(I was looking for something in my sheds and came across a load of SD1 stuff I'd quite forgotten about including 2 gearboxes!)

I still haven’t actually looked underneath! I think it’s really just welding it needs. Got to reinstate the clutch hydraulics, and the brakes. Then lots of electrical stuff like wipers and lights etc.

Also need a gearbox for my other one. I’ll send you a message.

A brief summary of the work I did on Christmas Eve. Bought a rather crude, yet effective windscreen removal tool. Chopped out the screen. Some of the frame is better than expected, some is worse, particularly the nearside A-pillar. Fortunately there is more room between the frame and dashboard and wiring loom than I realised, so I am happier about welding those areas. Cleaned up and welded in my bulkhead repair panel. Not the neatest job, but once I have put brushable seam sealer over it, it will look fine. Plus its all hidden behind the insulation panels anyway.
