I was going to ask if the engine was any good in the scrap VDP - doesn't matter now. Do you have a full set of those revo five spokes that could go on the diesel in its raw and ready state, they'd have to be absolutely spanking shiny mind you , in gold !? Anyway, you're not helping my SD1 itch at all . Ive actually got loads of fancy wheels off the drift car. I have a set of black 15" revo's with new road legal tyres. So they will probably make their way on to it since I'm fed up of keep pumping the tyres up.

Did my first constructive work on the car tonight. I took the section of bulkhead that I cut from the donor car, and replaced the rusty bit. Then I trimmed it down to fit and offered it up to the bulkhead. Then I used a wire wheel on the drill to get all the paint off the bulkhead where I was going to be welding before a dusting of weld though primer. Tacked the new panel in, then fully welded. This was a bit of a pain, as accessing the bottom edge was problematic. Plus although it wasn't raining, it was very damp tonight, and a little bit of a breeze. I had a scary moment when the bulkhead insulation caught fire, but I had the hose pipe out just in case so quickly put it out! No damage done. Just quite alarming. Gave it a quick sand down, then etch primer, then a coat of random black to keep the rust away. Feels good to actually be doing proper constructive work. Celebrated with more takeaway food!

nice job! You are definetely a man with a mission doing this kind of work outside in december and in the UK where it Always seems to be damp or rains….. That bulkhead area really is an unfriendly spot to do these kind of repair jobs
I would consider to pull the engine and trans out as this gives you much more room to work and you can also fit a fresh crankshaft seal and have a look at the clutch components
Keep up the good work!
Peter

Peter I would like to pull the engine, definitely the way to go, but i have to be conscious that i am working in our office car park. Thats why I'm outside under cover of darkness. I have to keep noise and mess down to a minimum!

In the unlikely event you are ever in Kuala Lumpur, there is s chippy on Changkat Bukit Bintang that does superb fish, chips and curry. British style. Also meat and potato, mince and onion pies. No babies heads I'm afraid. Don't miss it.

Brilliamt thread. Have read the police car thread, the work on that car is seriously admirable, but this thing with its dents etc really speaks to me. Excellent work!

Great work so far, a question, are you going to pull this down eventually and do a full rebuild like the Police Car? Is it going to end up in your workshop?
