Blimey - get onto Dell with that story, see if they'll spring you a new one if they can use the story for marketing perhaps? Just a shame I didn't have it on battery backup- one of the cameras wire broke but the other two would have recorded the tornado. Phil

Blimey - get onto Dell with that story, see if they'll spring you a new one if they can use the story for marketing perhaps? I found a remote control at my dads that had Duracell batteries in it. Expiry date was in the 90's... worked a treat. I contacted them thinking I might be up for a free pack of AAs, their response? Well past use by date replace ASAP! Arseholes.

Went out to get fuel because the weather's pleasant. Quite odd for here, the heater even came on, it's quite chilly. Phil

The other night my son and I were headed home from separate events, and our routes converged. I dawdled around on side roads to let him catch up simply because seeing his truck on the road among all the moderns makes me smile. Likewise, seeing the shots of you moseying about in this beautiful machine makes me happy. Thanks for sharing!

Well, I have a short list of to-do items.
I need to clean the car, it's filthy. Need to get a pop rivet gun and reattach the sun visor. Fuel pump is weeping. Radio is clipping at low volume, need to investigate that. Either a failed cap, the speaker has gone bad or one of the output tubes is bad. Valves need looking at. Might just throw a can of Berryman down the carb and see what that does.

Time to rebuild the engine. First, install the rebuild tool. Bring the thunder! Rebuilt! Issues better now. It's got some marvel oil dumped down it and sitting overnight. Might help, who knows. Phil

There's nothing particularly special about it but it does seem to work.

This is the one I remember It has a hint of snake oil about it, but it is effective at some things, on some rigs it was quite commonly put in lubricators for air tools, that was back in the nineties, not seen it so much in the last few years

It has a hint of snake oil about it If I recall analysis shows it is mostly castor oil. My nose says so too when it is burning- smells like Castrol R. It does have reasonable seep characteristics so does get into some things. I dumped half the bottle down the carb, the rest went in the tank.

Went drive tonight to go get some hardware for the house. The car began to stutter and run warm (weak mixture) so I pulled the boost pump on, which made it stink of raw fuel. A quick looksee at the pump revealed it damp, but that's mostly oil. 4 psi boost pump on- and it pisses fuel in a stream from between the pump body and sediment bowl. Waiting for it to cool off so I can take it apart and see what's gone bad. Phil

Random gust of high wind tried to drop the hood on my head, which was fun. Once that passed by (weather changes by the minute here) I pulled the pump off and inspected it. Cleaned the gauze filter out and reassembled a little tighter than it was. Reassembled, with the boost pump on and engine running it's now dry. Gave it a little tune up, idle mix and ignition. It'll idle silly low in gear when it's set up right. Phil

Much yard work yesterday. Fun with power tools. Turned this ... ... into this. After a run to town to get some things at the hardware store, I started on polishing the car up again. The paint has gone all chalky. Ran out of daylight, which is remarkably odd- usually the bugs chase you inside here well before darkness falls. Phil

Out and about today, car broke down.
Started running real rough, managed to nurse it a ways out to Auto Zone. Popped the hood, liked to lose my fingerprints on the coil. Bought a new coil, fittes it in the parking lot and carried on.
Old cars aren't so bad all the time.
