my rolling project Scimitar se5. Its only just been MOT'd with no advisories after being of the road for a few years.
A previous owner spent a lot of time and money rebuilding the chassis and suspension. Its now galvanised and in really good condition. I brought the car with a 1.8t diesel from an old escort in it. This would never do so went about swapping a saab B204 turbo lump into it. This is now up and running really nicely with plenty of torque and is much more responsive. Its mated to an rx8 6 speed gearbox which works really nicely with the tall final drive. Its got the Viggen uprated pressure plate, uses the standard Saab radiator with fan which has had no issue at all in the recent heat we've had. Its got the T25 turbo with a stage 3 map, 3" downpipe and front mounted intercooler. I've wired in an OBD2 port, using a little Bluetooth dongle and Torque Lite app you can keep an eye on all the engine necessary's live.
Its got a massive set of vented and grooved brakes on the front with Wilwood calipers. Stops really well even without a servo. Has a new ali fuel tank with genuine Bosch 044 fuel pump.
It is tax exempt and if you were to return it back to original would be mot exempt.
Not going to lie the paint really lets this car down. Its been painted really badly at some point with ether brush or roller. It could really do with stripping back and redoing. Nothing scary underneath as its fibreglass so no rust to deal with. All the usual spots that would go on the se5 have been addressed like the roll hoop, boot hinge and door hinge. It came with buckets and harness bar which can go with it if i get the full asking. Its currently got mx5 seats in it on runners so fully adjustable.
The plan was to get it on the road like I have. Make sure it's all running well, address the leaks that these all had from factory, then look for a good conditon interior to put in it. Maybe addressing the paint too. Its been on the road for a couple of weeks and tbh I've just enjoyed smoking about in it, really good fun booting it past people. I'm planning on driving up to RRG in it next week if anyone's interested, could probably get a lift home. I could be interested in a PX with cash my way.
