More engine rebuilding today as the case saver inserts arrived this morning.
First barrel and piston fitted.
Second barrel and piston fitted. The piston and barrel set is a Kolbenschmidt kit and appears to very nice quality. New pistons barrels, gudgeon pins, rings and retaining clips.
She has new pushrod tubes and seals but the original pushrods were in good order so were cleaned back up and refitted.
Tried out the tin ware set and after much scratching of the head I have now realised why the front tin didn't fit. It was the wrong way round.
Original rocker shaft cleaned up, lubed up and refitted.
Finished up with a shiny rocker cover and clip.
and on to the other side of the engine. A minor issue here I am going to have to sort. My new head studs came with one with 9 long studs and 3 medium studs. So I will have to extend the thread on the extra long stud before I can torque the head down. As Unfortunately I need some clamping force to set the hylomar around the barrel bases so have had to nip the remaining seven studs up so that will cure. Quite lucky really that the studs that needs modifying is the final one to torque.
Now it looks like an engine again. even if that is a spare head as I still need to change the guides in the remaining head.
