EFI time!!! Yes!!! At last!!! It is fitted... My review? Bloomin brilliant. Firstly, bolt it all on, with the help of a couple adapters to step it down from a 2 barrel Holley flange to a 1 barrel Carter... Then as I wanted to make sure it all ran before making the commitment, I decided to go a little mad max on the fuel delivery... However, I should never have doubted the system as I can't believe how quickly it fired up, how easy it was to install and how much punchier(?) the motor is now. It rips it's little tyre instantly which is just mega! All in all, doing it all twice, because after it fired up instantly I then set about getting it all fitted properly, it only took 5 hours. That includes running all the lines, the wiring, fitted a wideband sensor and jumping up and down for a fair amount of time after it fired up...

Oh and I had to make a little throttle linkage stand off bracket. Don't worry the return line will be finished properly when we are all allowed out to play again. Can't express how impressed I was with the whole thing. a little one pegger left after id say 10 mins of it running lol

Getting inspired for how I want this thing to look now that she's running well now... Being sat in front of my laptop all day is going to get expensive soon...

Well, a few more weeks on and there hasn't been a huge amount going on. Fixed a few vacuum leaks, cleaned all the brakes up and re greased the bearings... Have also done a huge amount of window shopping, but by some sort of miracle haven't actually purchased anything for the car! Shocking indeed, but I think it might be time to make a commitment to some wheels... I spent a fair while trying to decide what sort of sporty looking something or others to go with, but I think I will go for some chunky steels to try and keep the car looking a bit more timeless. Also whilst not being able to go for a proper drive, I guess it was only right to attend a stay at home charity rally... I hope you are all staying healthy!

Great pics of a great car. Thanks for sharing! Thanks! It's certainly a good laugh to blast around in now. Even the mrs enjoyed the weekends cruising! Hoping to get even more miles on it soon and take it for a proper road trip!

Saw your car at C&M the other weekend (I was there in my SJ), it really got me thinking about these. As you say: a very smart looking American coupe minus some of the ridiculous scene tax.
Now off I go to see if there are any others for sale in the UK....

I spent a little while looking over it as I have got a hankering for a little chunky 4x4 at the mo! It was the maiden voyage for my mates F100 too, we have put some hours in to that recently so it was awesome to get them both out for a proper run. Think there is less than 15 Mavericks in the UK, be cool it you manage to find one for sale though! If I hear of any coming up, I will give you a shout.

It was rather cold! But mainly good to get out of the house and feel a little more sane. I wasn't sure who the Maverick belonged to otherwise I would have come and said hello!
Thanks though, good to blow the cobwebs off the SJ as it had sat doing nothing for a while with all these lockdowns and various restrictions we've had lately.
My girlfriend and I were dead keen on the F100 too, I really must get myself an American car at some point! Definitely would be interested in Mavericks for sale, I wonder what they would sell for over here?

I just slung it round the back and ran for coffee so I wasn't anywhere near it haha
First time I went to C&M, not a bad place for a meet, i'm sure it would be a laugh there in the summer.
The F100 is a savage, tasty 429ci (7 litre) motor. It just sounds amazing.
Last time I saw a Mav come up for sale in the UK it was hanging around the 8k mark, that had a 302 V8 in it but was a bit ropey, the guy who bought it had the motor let go on it pretty much straight away so he wasn't best pleased. It ended up strangely local to me, but iv'e never seen it on the roads.
Probs looking at similar money to ship a decent one in from the states I would say.
The fun thing about Yank stuff is there is just so much aftermarket support, can get pretty much anything to keep these vehicles on the road forever!

Such a great looking car! Lowering has helped even more.
How are you finding the EFI setup? I've watched a guy on YouTube do a similar conversion on his Pinto and a KE Corolla

Such a great looking car! Lowering has helped even more. How are you finding the EFI setup? I've watched a guy on YouTube do a similar conversion on his Pinto and a KE Corolla Tom The EFI transformed it. It's turn a key and go with little issues. I need to change the thermostat on it so it gets hotter and spends more time 'learning' before I do anything too drastic to it in regards to tuning. The only issue is that if you come to a stop too quickly it cuts out, I haven't done any data logging yet to find out if it is fuel delivery or a learning issue, been too busy driving it and enjoying it to want to fiddle just yet haha So yeah, if you pull up to a junction or roundabout carefully it is absolutely fine. Then stamp on it and roast the single tyre (at the moment) out of said junction haha We also fitted a Sniper to the F100 and it has woken that thing up considerably too, that thing has so much torque it was spinning the tyres at a roll from 40 mph haha The Holley system was easy to use, quick to install with instant results. Very well packaged bit of kit. One day I will tidy up the wiring and what not, but it's safe as is and I know that I can just jump in it and drive whatever the weather now!

Just read the whole thread. Never knew about the Maverick before - interesting little car and quite a looker too. Always fancied owing something from the US that's a little bit different, but have never been able to afford it. One day...
