[quote author=" pork" source="/post/2510350/thread" timestamp="1559843507 After playing with the old mans ls3 and hearing that........I measured it up, and it’s only slightly bigger than my cossie v6 😮 So I’ve sold it 😂 ......and sourced a 5.3 lm7 (truck ls, iron block) loom and gear box from the states, should be here by end of July A wise choice! I would suggest that you make yourself familiar with Matt Happel of Sloppy Mechanic fame, a Sloppy stage 2 cam, decapped injectors and a Chinese Choo Choo for 500hp of cheap power! What are you using as a gearbox? P. [/quote] It comes with a 4l80 🤔 .....I’ve never had any experience with auto boxes, so all new to me 😂

Phew! If you said a 4l60e I was going to suggest selling it in the states and getting an 80e if you are planning any mods. Have a look at the Holley terminator X computer and harness, heard really good things about them and at $990 a bargain when you consider you will probably have to spend $600ish on a HP tuners package and you get a brand new unpacked harness to boot! Oh what fun you are going to have! P.

Working on the old mans cobra and took it for its first drive today......that’s gunna be very quick 😮😮
That’s got a ls3, 430hp
.........my engine has (or had) 270hp I think from factory, a few mods and should be near to what the old mans ls3 makes
That’s the target for now then I guess 😂

Sorted the steering out tonight Using a mini steering column and mountney steering wheel and boss Made up a spline shaft to go from mini column to the uj, welded together then sleeved and welded M16 spherical bearing to hold the shafts in place Steering column held in place with a heavy duty mini column bracket , should be able to make a dash panel to with some gauges to go in that hole too

That Cobra is going to be a beast! its all coming along nicely, at least with the engine delay you can carry on with all the odd bits and bobs without getting sidetracked by a big V8!
Recognise the van, is it still Pauls firm or has he retired to sunnier climes yet?!!

Don't go to far on fitting things until you have an engine and gear box to go in it as you may start to run out of space quickly without knowing.

Will do 👍
.......just getting bored waiting for engine to arrive, been given a date of 17th😃.......but I’m on holiday, so will have to collect it end of the month either way
Luckily I’ve got the old mans cobra, which has an ls3, so been taking measurements from that, so fairly confident it’ll fit fine........I hope 😂

It will do you good to have a break from it anyway.

Really is quite small once all the parts are taken off Going to get an ls3 intake, as it’s much shorter in height

Is this what you need? these came off a Monaro with delivery miles to do the supercharger conversion, I was going to use them on my LS years ago but never got around to it I'm down from Lincolnshire to Vauxhalls offices at Toddington road tomorrow if they are of interest!
