A mate drove me up to Scotland today to pick up a new car, we went in his latest Tesla, the one with the ludicrous setting. I am trying to find the words to describe how it feels, I’m failing 😄
It’s beyond mind blowing and amazing, if you get the chance take a ride in one.... 👍

I test drove one up the bottom of the M1 last month. I'm with you! A crazy bit of kit!!
The salesman told me to stop on the ramp of London Gatway Services and hit the gas? In ludicrous mode... Somethings like 1.3gs of force apparently !!! I had to stop accelerating as my head felt like it was about to explode! I tried the "auto pilot" which was pretty odd. It also undertook a car on its own which I thought was a bit strange... Maybe it's because it's American?
It seems like they will let people who seem alright test drive these cars. When we pulled back into Brent Cross and I pointed out my Escort 1.1, I think he realises I didn't have the 68k to buy one though haha
I could understand a person having one of these and a nice classic or two. Would love to compare it to something petrol of similar speed... What ever that is!?

Driving through France last year, the Peage were turned into traffic light grandprix with these things, usually on Belgian or Dutch plates burning everything off. First time I had seen them in action - totally epic

No thanks.....each to there own and all that I don’t want to own one, it’s the experience to feel that savage acceleration This, a play about with onefor some distance soon convinces you! With town driving most cars can get annoying. I can say to anyone here that if you drove a Tesla Model S and my particular Escort RS Turbo with a 4 paddle clutch almost everyone would drive the Tesla. I know people here would say “NEVER!” To save face and to look gray on the forums but that Escort was the worst car I’ve driven In town. With a biting point measured in micrometers, A shuddering action every time the centre plate thought it might contact the flywheel and having to rev-match the gearbox on upchanges (no, that is no joke!)it was horrid to drive slowly. A couple of RRers thought I was exagerrating. Until I threw them the keys, where they wondered why it was called a clutch. At high speed it was fine! On the open road those Tesla’s just go and go. And nope, I know of some petrol heads who own them too. This bloke is one of them. But I’m sure he’s not a “true” petrolhead... www.ricola.co.uk/cabrio.htm

For those thinking about one of these, in Scotland at least you can get a £30k interest free loan for an electric vehicle!

No thanks.....each to there own and all that C'mon Dan, you can do better than that. Point one: 7) Modern cars are not evilSo stop whinging about them 8) Environmentalism is not badSo stop whining about it as well. Misguided environmentalists are though, however using information gained via facts we can help inform misguided people. Point 2: They're very fast! Point 3: You can put Tesla bits in old cars!:

I stopped in their showroom in Columbus on Saturday to check out the X, I am not sure it’s the car for me but it pushes a lot of the right buttons for my daily.

Point 5 That company makes no profit So they may become rare when they go into liqiuidation! Some of the best cars were sold at a loss...and many of the best car companies have gone out of business. Should we count that as another point in their favour then? I think you should pop down to Bluewater for a test drive Dan!

I think the time may well come when someone does a kit to put a decent electric motor and batteries into any old car, much like you can get kits to put v8s into other cars. When they do, and they're cheap enough I'd be up for an electric retro. The kits exist, as do the companies to do it. Sadly, the cost bit hasn't quite got there yet. Then again, how much is any high-performance drivetrain when the cheap donor cars aren't available? It's just a waiting game.

If I came into some money ....which is highly unlikely I’d buy a Mercedes before anything else But to be honest it’s not a bad looking car but not my cup of tea
