At 28 years old I just passed my cbt! Which now equals a full moped license too apparently. Never ridden a bike before, but hooked now!
Anyhow new hobby had some criteria! my partner insists scooter (small bike later), I have very little money, I won't buy anything Chinese, just moved about 3 miles from work, so a twist and go 50cc works!
Perusing what was about and I saw this bike, listed in the parts category. Had been unused for 3 years, though was complete and apart from being very faded-to-pink looked good. To my eyes the 90's attempt at a cub50 replacement. Secured for £50! It's called sky, as I wasn't imaginative.

All I will say, having ridden bikes since age 13 and now 55 is that for most this is a life sentence.
Have fun and stay safe.
Never ever underestimate the stupidity of other road users when on two weeks.

I do like biker cameraderie too

So.. I dragged the bike home! Initial assessment, flat rear tyre (both tyres good tho) no battery though engine was free and good compression. Brakes worked.
First step was to buy a battery, bit of a drama as the first one was a dud but 13 and a free charger for inconvenience! Checked the fuel and oil, pumped the rear tyre up, Battery on, pressed starter. Engine turns but wouldn't fire... indicators and brake light work tho :-)
Gaffa tape the saddle up, had a little think about the paint..
Cleaned carb, good spark but no firing engine.. hmm... off to local old skool bike garage!
Turns out fuel wasn't getting to the carb as vacuum system had issues... old fashioned mechanical jiggery pokery and she runs!!! Left the bike with the garage who freed up everything, checked everythi g, serviced this and that, and mot'd the bike!
One Mot'd road legal honda! Proper scruffy (more tape was required for the mot 🤣) and very slow (service needed... and I think de-restriction is a must! (Tips..) but woo, fun little scoot!

How to collect a scooter 😁 All chained up outside the flat When i got her she had an L-plate on, the colour difference underneath was impressive! Seat was a bit worn out! Now I had a little inkling that the pink shade was the oxidization of the gel coat.. had a scratch at it with my key and.. Bit of fine grade wire will, ten mins or so aaand And as she is now! Gaff tape, half sanded galore in the work car park. Getting up the slope out of the car park however is a bit of a test 😁 Anyway, it's my first bike and I am hooked. It's veeeery slow but good fun, and I like it! Onwards for some buzzing around 😀

Reading the excitement with which you're writing those posts, brings back memories of when I'd just got out on on my first bike, it's a great feeling being out of two wheels. You've done well to get that one up and running for so little I'd say. When you've finished polishing the plastics up and if in time you bought a new seat cover, it'll look like a new bike! I wouldn't worry about it being slow, I swear I made mistakes on my 10hp 125cc on L plates that would have ended in disaster had I been riding the 33hp restricted bike, and then likewise mistakes made on my 33hp bike that would have been much more serious had I had the speed and power of the 60hp bike I got next, and so on. We all gotta star somewhere, enjoy riding and be safe out there!

I like it I have a Honda Melody in storage (it's my mums, stored in her garage, hasn't been on the road for 20 years) which might be fun to reawaken for short trips. also, is that car park the one under millenium square, or behind the council house (or neither!) oddly the paint looks familiar

Love it!! I keep getting the urge to buy something like this for no real reason other than I've never owned a bike, I was 47 last month and always liked bikes but never really wanted one but the Ped/Scooter urge keeps growing.
I especially like the way yours fits in a Fiesta 😆
Keep up the good work.

It's buzzing around atm :-) I was never into bikes when I was younger and all my mates were, but you know what it is very good fun! This sort of scooter works for me, a standard moped is just too small (I did my cbt on a 100cc piagio zip, my spine nearly broke) but I gather this size and a 50cc is quite rare, honda seem to do a few tho! In short, I recommend giving it a go 🙂 Tbh, I may get something a bit bigger and either tuck this away or pass it on.. eitherway I am enjoying it! It is amazing what you can fit in a fiesta 🤣

Keep up the good work mate, peds are so much fun i've had a full bike licence for a couple of years now but still keep a moped or 2 around for a giggle.
Most mopeds are restricted in the exhaust, there will be a small washer spot welded in there. Wack that out and it will be much faster
