I'd echo those sentiments entirely. I was only able to get there today, but what a superb mix of cars. Got to see some that I've only followed on the site. Had to smile at the comment from the lady on the parking team in the car park: "you know it's all just cars love, there's no traders stands"? Yep, that's why I'm here.

I'd also like to say thanks for all the hard work to lay on a bostin' weekend. paulwap347 from Nuneaton... One of the lads with Nuneaton Palace erected in the corner of the field? If so... I'm the brummy with the Scim next door. Cheers for the tea fella. Sorry I mistook your camping fridge for a porta-potty in the night by the way. It'll come off if you get a jet-wash on it before it sets. Maybe see you all at Dragstalgia if you're going. =)

Yep, d'accord. HoTWire and rmad especially for initiating such a great addition to the show scene, but massive thanks to everyone beavering away to make it run so well. Only made it for the Sunday but the organisation seemed excellent. And somehow, as with all RR events, it was just such a mega-chilled vibe. No side or macho nonsense to any of it... (other than a few (seemingly inevitable) utter nobs giving it berries out of the circuit. Honestly, is there anyone on the internet who hasn't seen how close Goodwood has come to being closed down by NIMBYist joy police in the local community and wider? Why the Breakfast meets are now pre-book only to cut down on the impact to the surrounding area? And even after all the media furore of Ferraris ploughing into oncoming traffic showing off to the cameras, people who really ought to know better and show more respect do everything in their power to depart the place like a total bellend. I love cars and I love shows and everything about car culture, but I don't want to be associated with the likes of you.)....anyway, it was a great show and well done all of you involved behind the scenes. I realise it probably won't break even and so it's even more humbling that you guys put yourself through it purely for the love and the desire to create something different. And bstardchild , finally great to meet you dude after all these years And likewise to everyone else, old faces and new. Sorry for bothering fr€$h&m1nt¥ just when you were hanging the worst. Sorry for having the wrong length fanbelt for Frankenhealey . Most of all, sorry for making VIP get up out of your lawn chair

Yep, d'accord. HoTWire and rmad especially for initiating such a great addition to the show scene Just wanted to say it is Keefy who is the other part of the events organising trifecta with bstardchild and me. rmad, HARDCORE, VIP and gewy provide much needed help and support (and lots of hard work) across the weekend, along with a bunch of other folks who we definitely couldn't do the show with out Thanks for the thanks, much to think about and improve upon.

See, this is a great reflection of the general vibe and frendliness of the whole weekend. Starting a thread just to say thanks. How nice. For this to be the first time the event has been put on I find it incredible that it attracted so many cars, and so many types. Back when I used to do classic car shows it was very much club orientated, and clubs would to a certain extent keep themselves to themselves. The whole place was like one big club, a feeling that ive not really encountered at a show before. I was supposed to be turning up with a mate but he dropped out so I turned up on my own. Almost as soon as I got out of the car I was welcomed, and authough ive been on this forum for a while i hadnt been to an rr event before so i I could do is recognise cars and look for the owners. It worked out and by the end of the weekend it was feeling very community-like.
Was great to finaly meet you aswell Hotwire. This has to happen again, Pid says it will be a crime if it doesnt and I might have the chance of bringing something far more cooler and age appropriate next time. Having the car show on the track was a great idea, doing it at Goodwood could make this absolutly massive next time, like it wasnt big enough already.
So yeah, thank you to the whole team for making it possible, and hotwire for starting retro rides all that time ago. It was a special weekend.

Not much else to add but all the usual RR goodness just closer to home for me! Track time was great fun, surrounded by good people and loads of interesting cars of all varieties. I do hope this is going to be an annual event and I fully intend on camping for the whole weekend next year to make the most of it.

Such a good weekend! We drove down from Glasgow in the limo (only 2 of us due to some dropouts). Arrived at the campsite on Friday and straight away folks were chatting, such a friendly atmosphere which lasted the full weekend.
The show had so much variety, was great to see different cars out on track all day and equally great to see some absolutely beautiful machines parked up during the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
It's been by far the best show I've ever attended and we'll definitely be back! Just wish I could get the time off work for the Gathering too but that wont happen unfortunately...
Thanks to everyone involved in organising and running the event!

Like many before me I'd like to say a big thank you to the RR Team for organising the RR Weekender.
It shown that you'd put much thought into it and as such we all enjoyed ourselves. Look forward to you arranging this event in 2019 whereby lessons learned from this event can be put into place.
Please can you next time have a minder in the Camp Site so those very small bunch of idiots who kept annoying most of us campers by playing loud music until 4am would be kept at bay. Don't begrudge anyone enjoying themselves but please respect others.
Now I've got off my soapbox, I'd also like to say there was a great mix of like minded people who all enjoyed our love of Retro Cars.
I look forward to seeing the Video's and Photo's.
Well Done.

Don't begrudge anyone enjoying themselves but please respect others. SO glad I'm not the only one with a deep sense of resentment against those utter dicks. I went over twice to reason with them and then as I stared into their saucer-sized mad eyes and they honked and barked at me, I knew there was nothing good that could come out of asking them to stop, so I just had to turn around and go back again. They were utterly blasted and beyond any kind of reason or control. Sunday morning when I finally woke up and walked past their gazebo thing in the middle of their tents, they had destroyed everything they'd brought with them. Smashed everything up. I'm amazed they didn't burn their pitch down. They had kicked over their barbecue/fire thing, kicked over all their chairs and tables and scattered all their stuff everywhere. I'm willing to bet good money they didn't tidy any of that up before they left. I really don't know what they thought the event was. I think they got it confused with some kind of music festival flood-therapy session for under-developed cretins. I can only hope the got stopped by the police for drunk/drug induced driving as they left because they were still at it at 4am and yet they were up by 9:30am staggering around and starting their cars. Utter knobs. I think the thing to do next time is for a bunch of RR regulars to put their names into a hat to volunteer as a campsite peace-posse. We could swap mobile numbers and then anything like that happens again and the Goodwood ground staff have gone home, we can gather in sufficient numbers to deal with it and if necessary to remove them from the site. I don't know quite how that would work and how we would control it but I'm sure a bunch of us would stand a better chance than just one of us.

I don't know why security didn't pick up the noise. Last few years they've been great and afaik where on site all weekend all through the night. Maybe HoTWire can shed a light on this. We had a great weekend. And even though I wasn't camping far from you, I didn't hear them. I know from similar experience from a couple of years ago it can ruin your weekend. I'd like to thank everyone involved in the weekender for their effort in making this happen. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. Great to meet old and new faces, great venue, very nice spread of cars and a great atmosphere.

I don't know why security didn't pick up the noise. I think I can answer that. I think the 11pm curfew was also the time for the contract hired security staff to make a final pass and then leave. They weren't Goodwood people they were just hired (by Goodwood I presume) and I would personally be amazed if Goodwood were going to keep them onsite all night. They went home and we were left to our own devices until the morning shift. That bunch of people were quite canny because they switched the music off and piped down completely at 11pm both nights... waited half an hour or so, and then resumed their fun. I'm surprised you didn't hear them but for me they were utterly unmissable as they were directly across the fire divide from me. Their music was not blaringly loud, just too loud and also too late to be acceptable. Added to that was their drunken shouting, the sounds of things being knocked over, hyena-like laughing and singing along badly to the songs they were listening to. Aside from that though... a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, I agree!

If you actually came over you could of joined in on the tenacious D concert we had on Friday night. Your right about our camp site we trashed the place, and then cleaned every last piece of litter up and took it to the skip before we left coz we aren't massive curse word As for security, they were on round the clock and we had a woman come over both nights and told us to keep the music on, because eveeyone else had gone to sleep and she was bored lol. We had a chap come over Saturday about 1am asking us to turn it down because his group were heading off to bed for the night and actually ended up staying with us for 2 hours having a great time! Lighten up and join the party next time! Lots of love x
