Well pleased the van is ready for the RR weekender and all the small jobs including the driveshaft boot replacement done this weekend, big thanks to pal Darren who popped over to help with the driveshaft issue today Had to make a temporary shelter from the bloody rain Saturday I finished off the engine bay detailing cam cover repainted after prepping it all week....unfortunately the mrs did discover I was using the airing cupboard Saturday evening😂

Not looked in here since you had it painted. Much better with a zetec in rather that the diesel. The intake says its a 130bhp? Is that right? I was not aware of a mk6 being available with that spec. I always thought after mk5b the gti range and convertables top spec was 115 bhp .

My best piece of home painting was baked in the airing cupboard, I'm only brave enough to do it if Mrs Minty is not around though!

I may have mentioned elsewhere.
Dishwasher, supersized oven (V8 heads) all were open game, and Nicola used to just tell me to get on with it.
And of course these days, Sally shakes her head and just nods and smiles.
They both get it.

So the RR weekender was a great one, van performed faultlessly On the run down Friday evening Me and my pal Rick had a good day Saturday running his sapphire cosworth on the track Then Sunday my lad George came down with the rest of our pals for the fraudownersclub stand George decided to enrol for the solosprint session in his fiesta But I gave him the keys and told him to get out there in the van....not much convincing required ! He came back in from the second go looking worried “Sorry dad I’ve broke the clutch” Me?? Sod it it’s built to use don’t worry My pal Rick with george rigged up a temporary repair as it was only the pedal quadrant that had shat itself Managed to get the 70 or so miles home ok and parts ordered to repair this week All in all a superb weekend

I had the same problem with my Escort ! I was too lazy to have a go replacing it before RR and on the first attempt at a wheel spin for the track day I temporarily lost my clutch 😅 I thought it was a metal quadrant on the mk6? I was told in the past to replace my mk3s with a mk6.

Ahh I see! Yeah definitely cheaper. I picked a couple up for £3 each, just need to find the time to do it. One of those annoying jobs I’ve paid garages to do but need to learn as this car ain’t going anywhere lol

A quick run down to grizz’s place Saturday an opportunity for a few pics with his Chevrolet S10....and when I got home I discovered the mot on the van had expired two days ago, whoops I’ll get it booked in a George’s workplace this week It was quite amusing taking my youngest Amy out for a run in the van she enjoyed the parp parp through the gears and the popping on overrun!

The new daily driver has come along well, fitted the alloys and a claybar and autofinesse polish treatment today still have to source some decent seats and then run it down and get the sill welded and mot it...but it’s looking well now Before And after a good going over Hey Dan, just been offered one of these (1.7 DI 2005) for very little money. Doubt its had a timing belt done, do you know how much i'd be looking at and anything else I should look for? trying to make a cheap runaround not become a 3rd money pit 😂

Hope you made some on it yourself. Will check them out cheers. It does have an MOT coming up soon just trying to get a quote for the timing belt. Its looking good on the MOTs but even for peanuts I think a test drive and look around is in order.

So We’ve been thinking about a wheel change since the rr weekender The 15” wheels just didn’t do it for us , nice but not filling the arches enough, Been after some 17” Peugeot steels for a while the are quite hard to come by , luckily my pal messaged me Friday about a set on that Facebook thing….so I got young George on the case and we managed to get them for sensible money I’ve got two stripped and prepared painted and lacquered two over the weekend Pleased with them and will source tyres soon Silver IMO will definitely suit them on our van
