A couple of new things arrived yesterday. New key so I have a spare And a new leather gear gaiter to replace the manky old one. So I removed the old knackered one to compare. And set about removing it from the trim piece and cleaning up the old glue with the wife’s nail polish remover 😜 don’t tell her. The I got to fitting the new one to the trim piece and I was quite happy with the results All fitted back into the car! Well cuffed for £5 and 30 mins of my time. New gear knob coming soon. Thanks for looking.

Had the chance to give it a little wash today. It really needs the wheels refurbing and a good polish/paint correction but it looks ok now. At least when it’s wet so you can’t tell how faded the paintwork is lol.

Over the last 3 weeks since getting the mr2 back in the road I’ve covered over 1000 miles (650 miles in 4 days alone) in it and it’s been great! A couple of things to sort out.... I think the thermostat is stuck slightly open as it takes a while to warm up and cools down when coasting down hill off the throttle. It doesn’t over heat so this suggests stuck thermostat to me...... likely it’ll need a new rad soon anyway so I’ll do it all at once, especially as these are a pita to bleed the coolant on apparently. I decided I needed a new steering wheel to give the legs a bit more room so a bit of bargain hunting on FB later I have these to choose from. So far I’ve gone for the OMP trecento as it’s small and it fits well. I would have loved the Personal one but it’s a touch too big for the car and my legs. I think I’ll put it on the golf now I’ve decided to keep it 😁 so not all lost. I’ve also ordered some gold alloy wheel paint to try and spruce up the alloys, which I’ll try and get done this weekend if all goes to plan and I have some free time! Then I need to trim the lower bumper grill to show off the chavvy exhaust and just basically enjoy!

Decided to try and give the paint a little love this weekend. Just quick snow foam, clay and polish, didn’t have any wax so it’s not protected but came up ok. The front and rear bumper are still dull but I’m not complaining for £300 lol. Quite contaminated, I guess that it hasn’t been cleaned properly ever! This was from about 1 square foot haha. Came up ok to be fair. Looks good from afar but far from good! Before After Before After That reflection lol. Got to clean the interior. The sort the headunit out as it still had the random issue of switching off occasionally. Got to be an earth somewhere I think.

Decided I’m going to paint the wheels myself. I’ve picked up some gold wheel paint. I already have some anthracite so need to decide. But thinking gold at the minute as the green and gold is definitely a good combo as shown in this stolen picture. This is the anthracite I have also. Halfway through doing the rx8 wheels for my daily Mazda 6. Both will look good I think but may go for gold or half and half one side gold the other anthracite???

I had a Rev.3 G-Limited Import. Only problem I had was that the electric power steering would play up everynow and then. I found a free cheat t oget it working again, turn the ignition on and off 30 times inside as quickly as you could. Loved that car and wouldn't hesitate at getting another. I fitted a Toms ECU to mine and it became a different animal.
Time to have a quick look on the bay I think.....

Those would look nice on the MR2 Matt. Don’t know if they would be way to big? Might throw them on when I refurb the 17’s, don’t think I’ll get time this weekend though.

And generally doesn’t work with aftermarket steering wheels. My PS light isn’t on but It can feel a little heavy. But it’s always going to be fairly light being rear drive compared to other cars.

Mine was exactly the same. It felt light, but the P/S Light wasn't on. I reset the system and it was perfect again. Must just be a design flaw I suppose

No need to trim the rear grille off to show the exhaust, just bend it up and in

Just back and forth to position one like 30 times? Exactly that! There used to be a really good forum on MR2's that sadly no longer exists (due to popularity I believe). You'll be amazed at how much lighter it'll become.

I’ve not touched this for a few weeks. But I’m heading out for a blast in the peaks with my mate and his recently decatted C63 should sound great! One things that’s been bugging me is the old dealer badge. Heavily beaten by the sun. It was bringing the look of the car down. Bit of elbow grease with a plastic scrapper and some window cleaner and it’s much better. Not much I know. But at least I won’t see the old crusty mess in my rear view mirror every time I drive it now! Hopefully some better updates when we move house. But I have just secured this unit/garage from the council.

Went out for a spin with my mate in his C63. When comparing exhausts. His recently decatted. I have to admit it was no contest his wins sounds so good. But mine managed to pop a few cheeky flames 🔥 I’ve always wanted a car which pops flames lol

Only a little thing this evening. Since having the car I’ve had a strange fault where the stereo would stop working intermittently or when you closed the windows for example. I was going to get a new head unit as it was very annoying and I wanted DAB anyway. So called into halfrauds on my way home and fortunately they were out of stock of the cheapest Sony DAB unit. So I decided to take the current one out and investigate the issue a little more. Thought it must be an earth causing the issues, so pulled the stereo out and this little guy popped out lol. That’ll do it. All back together now. True test will be Monday when it gets a good run out.

Decided to pick my son up from nursery in the mr2 on Friday as he loves the car! Only to end up with this happening after about 100 yards lol Fortunately I had a spare tyre in the garage from my fiesta ST from last year. So a quick trip to the garage and it’s all sorted now! Just put it back in the car and been for a quick spin! Never fails to put a smile on my face this thing.

Excellent work on this, the paint work seems to have come up really well.
That council lock up looks excellent! All the ones I've ever seen are tiny little damp single garages!
