Been working on the driver's door hinges. Once they're fully painted, and the door's had a polish, I can try it on! 😀
Made myself a temp spray booth 😉 bare metal'd the hinges, etch primed, and now in normal primer.
Hoping to get them into white gloss later tonight.

Got the hinges into white and wanted to try the door. First time fitting - needs a little more adjustment. Needs a polish with some G3 compound and then should be fine for a daily. The back/bottom of the wing/bonnet needs some bending to get better panel gap with the front of the door and top of the sill, and then hopefully good panel gaps this side!

Getting closer to being yellow! Still more to do on the bonnet before I can paint it. Would like to do it all at once.

Bought a polisher and had a go. Door looks shinier - needs another paint I think! A few night times shots:

Cool build. Good to see more Triumph Spit/GT6 builds. These cars are brilliant.

Hi everyone, sorry for no updates recently. Mostly been little bits here and there. Also, been collecting more parts for the build, so not lots to show. Some bits done on mocking up the roll cage, been amending/trimming the seats to get them to fit closer in to the gearbox tunnel, and cleaned up/painted/mocked up a later Spitfire accelerator pedal as the V8 doesn't allow for the MK1 GT6 pedal to be used. Aiming to get some more works done soon!

Make sure you are very thorough cleaning those, especially the front cover/oil pump. Vapour blasting is great for packing grit into corners. Pay particular attention to any threaded holes, and try and leave the parts on a radiator or something warm to dry any grit out.
Easiest way to tell if it's clean I've found is to blast it with a air line then stick your face infront of the blowback and see if you can feel the grit hitting your face.

Rotoflex uprights and MGF hubs acquired. Subaru LSD and joints acquired. A number of axles/drive/shafts have also been acquired to play with for length once all mocked up. The roto uprights were dis-mantled and cleaned up, but one bolt was so stuck in, it is being send off to be drilled out. With the LSD, CV conversion, bigger MGF bearings etc, the rear end should be able to cope with daily V8 driving

Brill, thanks for that - not good to have anything bad stuck in parts! Cheers.

Only 1 bolt stuck…… You should buy a lottery ticket….
It’s almost unknown for the radius arm bolts to come out on IK cars and the wishbone bolts aren’t much better.
That looks like a Vitesse roto set, so the radius arms will be wrong for GT6.

Nick Ha ha, lottery ticket lucky! 🤣 It took me pretty much 2x days to seperate everything, as some of the bolts didn't come out easily. All I using from the parts in the photo are the uprights, as going for a adjustable rear wishbones (similar to your son's, but joined together for extra strength), so if re-conditionable, the radius arms, roto wishbones etc. will probably go onto Ebay at some point The rear end needs to be over-engineered to the point that the Subaru LSD, CV conversion, uprights and leafspring connections all have minimal twist movement. The rear wheels are close to the arches and the Mk1 fixed spring rear suspension sadly twists far too much.

If you are planning on using Rover 100 driveshafts directly into the Subaru CVs, be warned that not all Subaru CVs have the right spline. In fact in my experience, most don’t. So check the ones you have do have the right spline. If yours do have the right spline to match the Rover shaft I’d really like to know exactly what the donor vehicle was as I’m bored with getting the wrong ones!
