What a beautiful behemoth of a car, love it! I second that the plate shows a different colour, but I doubt this is the one that belongs to your car anyway. An A111.012-chassis is an early convertible with a 2.2 litre straight six, yours should be a W111.026 which stands for the V8 coupé. See this website for reference: ai-motors.de/kleine-fahrgestellnummernkunde/As for your colour. I'd guess it's DB467 Sandbeige Metallic from the looks of things. For reference: www.classicway.de/overview.php?idtitel=farbcodeHope I could help & keep up the great work! I did check the plate during easter and it said something like 467 B or if it was H but it's most likely the Sandbeige Metallic! Thank you again

Bye the way, does anyone know the ET number for the steel wheels on a W111 Coupe? I think the other measurements are 14" tall and 5" wide, tires are 185/80 14". Searching for options!
Best regards, Mr EA

Love this! There's a green one goes about where I live. It's got Fuchs Mexican Hats on it, which look really good.

Love this! There's a green one goes about where I live. It's got Fuchs Mexican Hats on it, which look really good. Thank you! I do like the Bundts and they do look good! I already have them on the W123 coupe (Image borrowed and linked from www.classicway.de ) I would like to have 15-16" wheels due to tire availability and performance, and the 15" usually W116 wheels of the Bundt sort is expensive. So are repro's such as Greggearheads Bundt's and the Greggearheads Penta's which I'm a huge fan of.. I'm also looking at cheapish replicas of the newer Mercedes/AMG wheels (RIAL M10 Polar Silver), since I like the styling and they are a perfect fit at size 6.5"x16" ET38 CB66.6 and I can actually afford them either for temporary summer wheels or winter wheels. Also another thing for the replicas, I do not know if Mercedes makes them in 16" ? (Image borrowed and linked from www.abswheels.se ) Edit: Before questions, of course they would have the Mercedes star in center. What does the forum think? Best regards and thank you! Mr EA

I like Pentas on W123 chassis and Bundts ("mexican hats") on anything older.

What about a set of MB Toliman alloys? Would be interested to see how they look on this.

180407 Short text update; I bought some brakehoses, DOT4 brake fluid and a checkvalve for easier brake bleeding. The hoses are an aftermarket unholy mix of Renault and newer Mercedes, they were a lot cheaper than I expected and most importantly in stock at the local autostore. The measurements are supposed to be alright if the information I got of internet is correct.. A shame that I forgot to measure last time I was in the garage. Oh well!
Measurements according to the internet if anyone wonders; FR = 445mm M10x1 1M/1F FL = 445mm M10x1 1M/1F RR = 244mm M10x1 1F/1F RL = 348mm M10x1 1M/1F
And the ones I got for reference; FR = 445mm M10x1 1M/1F (Renault) FL = 445mm M10x1 1M/1F (Renault) RR = 265mm M10x1 1F/1F (Renault) RL = 346mm M10x1 /1M/1F (Mercedes)
Best regards and thank you, Mr EA

180414 So this day was a busy one, woke up early packed my car and went to a town a few hours away, but why? I found a set of Mercedes Toliman for a reasonable sum of folded paper. After I was greeted by an elderly couple and checked the wheels which were in great shape, they took the folded paper and told me to go to the harbour to get a coffee, so I did, it was lovely. Soon I got reminded by my girl that we were supposed to be at her (and her fathers) birthday party, at their summerplace a few hours away. Put the small blurple car in Dynamic mode and cruised comfortably at reasonable speed to their place, baked some cake and other stuff, this was also lovely. Side note I washed the car last weekend, but it doesn't look like that, huh. But, yet again I got a reminder that my gymbuddy and good friend also has his birthday party this evening in two hours.. Goddamnit... Left everyone yet again in spirited Dynamic mode this time for both the car and driver. Handbrake turned at the door at my apartment and put the tires in the hallway in my apartment, rushed to the parking spot and changed clothes and away to party, with a bag full of beer and French cider. Got home really early next morning, powernapped the whole Sunday, not so much done on the car. The sizes for the tires are 205/55 16" and the wheels are a whopping (compared to the 1970's) 7J x 16 H2 ET37 and "should fit" issue might be that they are about 2" or 52mm closer to the shock than the original steel wheels. Might need spacers or really stiff springs and shocks to prevent rubbing and the speedo is about 4% wrong to the slower side. Next weekend hopefully I'll be able to change the brakelines and fluid, see if the wheels fit without spacers and depending on weather service and move the W123 Coupe. Best regards and thank you for reading, Mr EA

180421-22 So this weekend was a busy one. Got up early on Saturday morning and packed the car, set off to the garage. Arrived with extremely nice weather and changed to summer tires for my little Alfa and my mothers wagon, fixed some issues she had with her internet access and other misc. stuff. Got in the garage and started to fit the "new to me" wheels, they actually look good! The bolts had the right curved head as well! After a few moments of faffing about, it looked like this. Clearance is about 15-20mm from the front shock, and a lot of clearance in the rear, not as tight as this picture makes it out ot be! The feeling of success made me put in the new rear shocks as well. And they fit perfectly, would you look at that. Due to the taste of success, I started to change the brake hoses, what could go wrong? A minor mess later and the new hose is on and bleed and all new fluid is in the system, for the RH side. This is when it turned to the dark side (regarding photos and success). I put the car up in the rear to change the RR brake hose, it loosened up really nicely but the fitting was stuck on the brake-line, curse word! I scavenged through my storage and found new MB brake lines for the axles. "Yes" I thought and snipped of the old brake line from the RR side of the rear axle and removed the caliper and hose. Issue is that the brake system looks to be a single line set up and not the safer double line setup. That means that I've got a "middle line" under the trunk area coming from the RR side to the RL side and into a T-joint. Which then goes to the RL brake caliper and the FL brake divider. That "middle line" also had stuck fittings everywhere and every attempt to loosen the fittings in either the T-joint or the RR side made the pipe twist a little. Many foul words later, it's still there. Oh well I thought, maybe I do not need to remove that pipe to fit the new hose. I didn't. Success! New hose and pipe on RR axle and time to bleed. curse word (again, it's a family friendly word) almost no fluid at the RR nipple and a dragging caliper, which means when braking it only drags and do not engage, when no brake pressure is applied it still drags. So either a pipe is almost full of rust, a new caliper is needed or the caliper needs a redo. The to-do list is getting a tad longer, with the following (maybe not all is needed but we'll see); New brake lines need to be made from the FL-line section to the RL and RR caliper through the T-joint. (Worst case a new line from the FL brake divider) Refurb the calipers (if needed) or new ones (again if needed). Best regards and thank you for reading, (a tad frustrated) Mr EA

Brake woes aside, wheels look good.
Again I can only be thankful mine has never seen salt.

That would've been a dream, to get it with no salt. I currently hope that the brake issues are only lines and hoses, since the calipers are quite expensive currently (if new that is).

Those wheels look really good, yeah. Brakes are easy, really. It's only a hydraulic system and there are only so many things that can go wrong. If calipers are expensive, a new set of seals and stainless pistons might not be a bad idea.
