Excellent work! I like the idea, by looking at the colour I am assuming you going for Bastos look? As far as I remember Eggenberger won the Group A title but Bastos pulled out superb victory in Spa 24hrs.
What about powertrain? Will you keep it original?

The original group A car ran the m30 2.8 engine but I’ve decided to build a 2.8 stroker using my 2.0 m20 which is a lighter engine to the m30. I’ll be keeping the 520i gear ratios and final drive plus an lsd should liven things up. The 528i was the car to beat in 1982.

Fantastic. E28 are rare enough, let alone an E28 race car.

Can I ask, did you copy the cage design from a period race car?

Can I ask, did you copy the cage design from a period race car? I based my cage around the basic design of the time. I didn’t want a complex cage because they don’t look right in an older car. I’m going to fit removable door bars to make road use a bit easier.

Looks gorgeous. Can I ask a silly question re the interior black paint, is there a paint code or name for that ? Might sound odd , but it looks like the exact sheen I'd like for my own BMW project car. Thanks

The advert that appeared beneath this comment made me laugh... I think the cage design is perfect for the age of the car. It's a shame you're not in Cornwall or else I'd be hassling you to make a rear hoop for my 1602.
