After a brief encounter with a mk6 fiesta ST which ended up like this after left parked in front of my house. I have just collect this Golf with the Insurance money. And I love it. Despite all the niggles that need sorting it cracking fun. I picked it up yesterday looking like this. The first issue I needed to sort was an intermittent starting issue that presented itself when the P.O. dropped the car off....not a great start! Turned out the positive to the starter was a little shagged. And just wrapped round so I cleaned it up and all good so far. Then tonight I picked up a four lamp grill to get rid of the awful two lamp unit that was on it. All I need now is some red trim and it’s sorted. Oh and I need to sort the lamp wiring out as it’s not quite working correctly. I’ve got a spot on all the time with the dipped beam. Also sort the front dogs and install a rear before the MOT in May. So the future plans are lift it a little to get some comfort back (don’t hate me) and get it on my drive without ripping the splitter off each time. Needs a deep clean and polish both inside and out. The seats need some new padding or swapping for the recaros in the shed. And also some tyres for the other wheels which came with it as the ones on them are a little stretched. Then sort out the vague front end when suspension and tyres are sorted. Oh and a slight blow from the Exhaust. It’s going to keep me busy lol.

Nice looking car Have to say, from a personal perspective, I prefer the silver 5 spokes to the black wheels Nice start, please keep the updates coming

My favorite car of all time. If you can live with it, the 8v is a cracking unit. 112bhp is enough to have fun and not so much to get done by the boys in blue. I have had a few, and the 8v would regularly give over forty to the fallen on the 50 mile a day commute.

Not really my thing. Not sure what the black ones are. They don’t really suit it. But are pretty new and it good condition.

It’s definitely fast enough and pulls well. I’m loving it so far!

The black wheels are cades jadis and I agree, they don't suit the golf. I know it's been done to death but you can't go wrong with oem bbs or some steelies in my opinion. You might be able to get a decent return on the black wheels from the right crowd.

Ditch the cone filter and get a proper airbox, it'll run better. I've a Digi mk2 as well, also Tornado Faded Pink.

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

It does look a bit chav when you open the bonnet haha. I’ll be attempting to restore a little life back into the paint sometime soon, time and weather permitting. But failing that it might get a blow over when it goes in for a bit of rust repair later in the year.

Thank you. There will be a slight bit of modding happening lol. I’m picking up a trackslag exhaust this weekend which get the best reviews for the mk2 and I’m also going to be fitting some recaro buckets I have in the shed but I hope they don’t detract to much from the originality of the Car. I will return the original seats in due course.
I just hope I can keep onto this car and enjoy it for a few years. I’ve not had much luck recently. I’ve had 6 project cars in the last 12 months haha.
I’ve got a few days the weekend after this to work on the car in peace. So I can do the following.
Fit original height springs - already got Fit trackslag exhaust - picking up this weekend Fit seats - brackets should be hear end of the week.
After this I will have a decent base I’m happy to use and continue the modification and recommissioning of.

I bought a brand new trackslag system for my mk2 1.8t, the fit is absolutely perfect so you'll not be disappointed

This is the system I am getting a 2.25” trackslag “race” system. So single exit, but for weekend use it should be great. Can’t wait to get it fitted.
