Woop. Love these cars, had one when I was younger and here is a photo of it on its way home. Not sure of the plans for it yet - probably change the wheels back to stock or S2 steels then drive it around and enjoy. After its had its fun it will get tucked up with the rest of the fleet in the shed.

I really miss my old Rallye, I'd fuppin love another but they're really hard to get hold of now and about 3x the price since I sold mine ten years ago. Is this still a 1.3? They sound fantastic! Mine ended up with a valver in after the 2nd rallye engine started knocking - Faster, but just not the same...

Thanks - kind of why I bought this one. It's just had £1400 this year spent getting it back on the road after resting in a garage for 7 years. With 120k on the clock, its no spring chicken but some now have 200k+ on them.
Not the original engine (that in the boot in bits) it is still a 1.3 rallye engine, with a cam.
They all seem to be 16v now you're right!

Came from way down south west yep. Nice guy to deal with - for a change not a time waster. Owned the car 10 years.

Good buy. I've always fancied one of these. Look forward to developments/updates in whatever form they may be.

I miss yours too Dave, had a lot of fun tearing about in them. you'll have to come out for a blast in the flying blackboard once its back together. I've had a couple of them, cracking little cars, 1.3 motor is a peach, especially when bolted to the origonal box with the correct final drive. current 106 is a proper mongrel, part Rallye, Gti, Xsi,106 Diesel, picasso, 306, Saxo..

Looking forward to seeing more of this. I’m a big vw man but I’ve had quite a few, and can appreciate a good french hot hatch. Back in the late 80s/early 90s peugeot were on top of the game in the hot hatch race, and the 205/106/306 GTIs were all top handling cars.
I’ve never experienced a rallye but owned (and now massively regret selling) a now super rare xsi. When it worked it handled terrific and allowed you to enjoy every last rpm on any backroad, and for me this is what a hot hatch is all about. I can only imagine how a rallye must feel in comparison.
Now enjoy your investment!

That's lovely! I'd probably be tempted to keep those wheels TBH, at least you're not constantly chasing rust round steelies!

are those speedlines on it currently? They look great.
I had a 106 XSi for a number of years. Owned it after it had been passed along through 2 of my mates. We just couldn't let it go! It was superb and surprisingly capable!
I almost bought an S2 Rallye back in 2005 but decided on something Japanese instead. Now I love J stuff but I do still wish I'd opted for that gorgeous blue S2!

Yeah they are speedlines on it - proper retro wheel for the period. I'd like to chuck steelies back on it though, I think they are really needed on these. That said, they don't look pap at the moment on it!
The rear is low though, needs going up a bit.

A mate had a white one of these years ago, i didnt think it was anything special until I drove it. What a jewel of a car. He drove it to death and ruined it. Such a shame. Your red one looks great on those wheels, i recon you should keep them on it, i cant think of a wheel that would suit it better. And keep a set of standard steels in the boot.
