Thanks guys - yeah the wheels are nice on it. I'll refurb them and take a rain check. If some steelies pop up on the market for the right money I'll get them bought. I'll reward you with another photo of the car looking small but happy. Lol

You used to be able to get the steelies from Peugeot new, but they were handled like any other steel wheel so always arrived damaged. They were used as spares on the phase 2 Saxo VTR/VTS, so might still be available new - but they came painted black.

I saw this on the flatbed on Tuesday (I think), being hauled up Hamburger Hill at Fraddon (I think). Over a thousand miles in 3 days of driving at things become a little hazy!

Ah Peugeot. You once knew all there was to know about making small, light cars with tiny engines that where all about putting an enormous grin on the drivers face.
What the hell happened?

Very very nice! I had a beautiful white S2. Such a car to drive through the twisties, one of my biggest regrets was selling it. Best of luck with it!

I keep having this argument with a mate who keeps telling me his diesel Astra would wipe the floor with any of my retro hatches. I’m sick of telling him it’s not all about straight line speed, it’s the fun you have whilst doing it that counts.

I think if you need to explain it you are wasting your time even trying....

To be fair to him he has a point, it is quick, as with most modern diesels but that’s not what it’s all about. He just doesn’t “get it”

I used to ride a BMW R1100S, and had the same argument.... Could ride that on a wave of torque and it was quick and surprised a lot of people, but in ‘pub top trumps’ it always lost. You just have to smile and walk away Nice car, and I’ve had a beer and am definitely not going for a look on eBay

Thanks guys - yeah the wheels are nice on it. I'll refurb them and take a rain check. If some steelies pop up on the market for the right money I'll get them bought. I have a set of S2 Rallye steels with caps that I was going to put on my ax but I feel like they're a little on the big side for an AX now I've held them up to it! I'd be happy to sell them knowing they're going on a Rallye

Ohhh yes blast from the past! I had a black S1 one of these a few years back and my god was it a blast! Had a few choice mods S2 rear axle Koni adjustable shocks, pugsport exhaust system and manifold and Carbon intake on a set of Compomotives with sticky tyres, it showed ALOT of cars up on the twisty roads with more than twice the engine, I had more fun it that than I did my 400bhp Nissan S14, I regreted selling it straight away! I recommend people drive 1 of these in there life, I'd have another in a heartbeat.
Love the Speedlines too, keep them as a spare set of wheels with some decent sticky tyres for the summer or vice versa on the steels, either way cant go wrong and many happy miles

Great little car, I had one a while back, for a 1.3 they really sing don't they. It's the only car my wife refused to get in as she thought it was too fast. That may have had something o do with the induction roar more than anything but on a twisty it was great fun. I sold mine on and it promptly blew up,I was looking for another but the prices are creeping up.
