Thought you might like to see my friends freshly restored (originally built in 1980's) Corsair, debuted this weekend at a show.
I have lusted after that very car since it was 1st out! How does it drive? I always thought it would be wobbly but I hope not. Don't want to shatter my dreams!

A certain amount of baited breath (okay, a lot) here willing this solution to work. Trust it'll be fine. Can't see many others going to these lengths. One Corsair certainly in the right hands.

Remember seeing that stashed in a barn years ago ( knew the chap who built it through a car club, and one of my brothers dating his daughter!). Glad someone has shown it some love 🙂

Even with the workshop lights changing the look of Pete's I'd guess this one is quite a different colour. It's a very very pale cyan where Pete's is more of an aquamarine.

I had a good look around both yesterday at Rutland. I liked the gasser when it first got built so great to see it redone and also watched the build thread on the Pro Street one.

MEV is one ugly looking car... sorry. Pete's had more style before Chris started on it. When both Chris and Pete have finished it will be a joy to behold.

A lot of gassers tend to look ugly at the front with all the lower body work cut away to save weight. The car was built to a high standard with a lot of attention to detail which is why I liked it.

MEV is a very well built car and with a nice finish and as you say a lot of time has been spent on the detail parts Gassers are just my thing, I never like the esthetic look of them any of them.
My Corsair will just be another classic car that used and enjoyed when done nothing out standing like an original Cobra or DB4, this will be my sixth classic I have rebuilt having built three E types (one of each series) from the ground up in the late 80's while doing my mechanics apprenticeship and two Humbers of my own in the 90's, all of the special classics have been done or are being done with some on here, it's the turn of mundane forgotten normal cars this time which is why I want the my Corsair to be as stock as possible in looks with a few little improvements here and there.

Glad someone has shown it some love 🙂 It certainly is. Gary (original builder) has bought it back & restored it to how he built it back in the 80's. Sorry to hijack your thread Pete. I like both cars, the Pro Street is obviously more my thing (thought it would look better in the gasser colour imo) but I also love tha gasser for its superb finish and outragous design. It does have some really nice touches on it as well. All 3 (inc Pete's) have their place and all are equally superb for their own reasons.

John I have refurbished all of the front running gear and added some improvements to it at the same time. I will be starting a build thread soon showing everything I have done up until when Chris had the shell and then continuing the re build after I have it back. I have no deadlines to get it ready for so I won't be rushing for anything, I intend to do the re build properly, it's the only way to do justice to the work Chris has put in on it as several others on here I'm self employed and have to fit working on cars after my customer orders have been full filed and the only thing that takes priority over that is any family needs.

So after a few days away on other business The isolator was wet flatted (1500's) Enabling the base coat colour to be applied This dries to matt / low sheen finish Now left overnight The clear coat lacquer shall be applied in the morning

JB - Very much so - otherwise you would be waiting a long time for a single pack clearcoat to cure - with the advances in modern paint technology you can now achieve very fast curing times now on 2 pack - however I still like to leave mine overnight if possible
