My dailies, the ones that get the miles, all tend to expire at about 200k. Well I say expire, the Cavalier is still going in someone elses hands (saved from being broken), and the heart of the Omega will live again, that only died due to rust.
Put 80k on the cavalier in its life and 30k on the Omega, both stopping just shy of 200k in my ownership.
TBH as long as its been looked after I don't really care about mileage that much.
But yes, car wise all my experience finished about 200k miles.
I remember getting a 'new' truck with the old firm that was (IIRC) 750k kilometers young. Had a heck of a knock when cold. That still not that high relatively speaking though.

The most I had was a Rover 45 with 216k on it, not bad for an L series diesel.
found a hand drawn map of Poland under the carpet with motorway notes, think it had been a taxi. All i remember changing was the timing belts and the oil cooler pipes that had rotted as they were sticking out under the sump and in full view of salty road water.

A few. I've driven on a very regular basis the following: -'01 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X ; 77k to 387k -'04 Ford Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X Auto : 114k to 287k -'07 Mondeo 1.8 LX : 134k to 324k ; my sister had this car for a while -'06 Passat 1.9 TDi : 260k. That was a dog ; if I had driven the car before the old man had bought it I'd have told him to run a mile! All of the above were on LPG. As for me which I've sold -1991 Porsche 944 Turbo 250 ; Sold it on 180k ; Best car I've had. -1991 Mercedes W124 300D ; 290k. It's now on over 310k and rising. -Pug 205 GTi 1.6 ; 172k ; Tepper's old car.

Charade has 17,000 on the clock, as they go back round once they reach 99,000. Granted been a few engine rebuilds and rust repair but not bad for a 993cc turbo from the 80s. Wonder if the fiesta ecoboosts will do that

Not massive compared to some of the ones I've read on here before but my Saab 9-3 below had 200K when I bought it years ago. Everyone told me I was stupid when I bought it but I did 10K in it in a few months with no issues. Unfortunately it looks like it died a fair few years later at only 218K. I haven't had anything as well run in since!

My old 2001 Mondeo 2.0 tddi, sold it with 248,000 miles on the clock, was so reliable. Also my wife's old 2004 Audi a4 1.9tdi sport had 230 odd thousand before the stupid multitronic gearbox started playing up. Would probably still have that car if it was a manual

Pug 305 van. 320k and rising daily. Uses no oil between services. I reckon I'll get another ten years out of it yet. Well serviced xud should do that, I reckon.

Ive bought a few high milers because they where cheap, and it seems the mileage was the only reason for it.
Bought my V70 T5 with 255k on it, I ran it to 280 something K and then my dad put another 15k on it. Still on its original turbo!! Was only scrapped due to electrical issues, still ran and drove fine.
Mk5 Transit I bought with 370k on it but it had obviously been clocked. It was a beavertail and I always ran it very well loaded. I also lent it to a lot of people. Number 4 injector tip snapped off, fitted a £10 second hand injector and was sorted again. Checked the valve clearances once, they where about 5mm on 1 cylinder. It really quietened down after that service. I sold it at 410k still running nicely.
Also had a Merc w124 300D with 400 odd k on the clock and mechanically it was spot on, ran it for 12 months but the mot was not attainable without major rust removal.
Funny thing is, at the moment, all my cars are low milers (just chance, not looking for them) The Lancer has done 55k and the gearbox really needs some attention. Ive never needed to do a gearbox unless you count my Land Rovers (which don't count as they are made of chocolate and always need work)

I presume manufacturers don't want to make these kinds of figures easy to find but they must run reliability / longevity tests. They probably think less people will buy new cars but the people who want a new car on the drive every 3 years will not be interested in that kind of detail anyway.
Yeah the old 100k miles and it's straight to the scrappy story was definitely a 1970s/1980s dad legend. Don't forget these were the guys carefully masking off bodywork to leave in primer, following a Saturday afternoon treating rust on a 3 year old Allegro, so they probably carry those scars!

again, not as high as some, but my current Mk1 focus 1.6 petrol is about to hit 170K miles, engine still sweet as, uses no oil
my previous Mk2 mondeo 1.8 petrol (bought on 144K) reached 189K miles before I scrapped it due to rust and an intermittent charging fault I couldn't trace, engine was also still sweet, oh yeah, it also liked to dead lock the doors whilst driving along, the remote never worked so I had to stop, open the window and reach out with the key and unlock it!!!
my wife's previous Pug 307 1.6 petrol reached 191K miles before everything just started to fail, engine was smoking, gearbox whining, suspension klunking, air con had a mind of its own, ABS started playing up, just wasn't worth fixing the faults, then the exhaust rotting through and falling off was the last straw, hello scrap yard

We had a Vauxhall Astra mk1 estate at work back in the 1990's it was owned by a courier company before we got it, and although it was less than 10 years old it was well into its third lap of the odometer (it only went up to 100,000 miles) We took it into it's fourth lap, and then I bought it. I put another 20,000 on it, so by now it was nearly up to 450,000, but by then rust really had got a serious grip on the old thing so I sold it, it was still running well when it drove away! Apart from that, these are my high milers My 2004 Chevrolet LUV 217,000+ and still running strong and pulls like a freight train! My 2000 Jaguar S-type. 214,000+ drives like a new car, and still has plenty of power. Just passed its MOT and the MOT inspector said it was one of the most rust free examples he'd seen!

I just don't do the mileage others seem to on here only doing 10k pa between 2-3 cars. I bought a mk4 tdi golf at 125k and sold 3 years later at 155k as it was feeling really tired but that's as high as I've got.

my Carlton 3.0 24V diamond estate, bought at 22000 miles in 1994 and rested up this year at nearly 400,000 miles, same engine but one head gasket and chains, 3 clutches, 4 water pumps, a few exhausts but the same cats, tons of tyres, oh and a few gallons of petrol! awaiting a restoration for the next 400,000 miles!

Then the most I've ever done in the shortest time? Drive to Barcelona and back over 10 days, 2000 miles pretty much entirely on cruise control! Lol
