That steering gatour is superb I’ve heard of someone in the club making them as well but do they have any give in them like the orignal? I’m down your way for a few days next week would you be up for a visit? That particular steering gaitor is hard, with no give, but that is my prototype for sizing. I've got some filament for the printer that has some give in it, but I'm struggling to get it to print properly. Be good to catch up - come on over when you are around.

That looks much cleaner with the reduced front bumper, one of those modifications that non-owners wouldn’t spot but makes the whole package more complete. I was just looking over the pics again and had another think about this comment. I'm a non-owner, but I know these cars pretty well. If I saw this with the bumpers, Id know something was up, id know it looked tidier, somehow different, neater, but i don't think id ever be able to work out what was different or what had been done to the bumpers. I like that. Yes that’s exactly what I was trying to say.

Wipers first. The motor is normally mounted in the engine bay, but I'm trying to get as much hidden away and simplified in the engine bay. So I made up this bracket, that picks up on the bolts for the pedal box in a LHD car. Mounting it there allows the stock cable drive to the wheelboxes to be used. The wipers were always rubbish. Self park had been bodged and never worked, so I splashed out for a recon motor.. The sweep of the wipers was always wrong too. A bit of detective work over the years showed that the drivers side wheelbox had been replaced with the wrong part. So they now should sweep correctly and self park - luxury. I didn't want to spoil myself by upgrading to a 2 speed wiper motor

The bonnet has been dipped, and there have been extensive repairs to the inner frame. But the outer skin still needed attention. I tend to get better results if I make smaller simpler panels, rather than trying to get it all done in one hit. Here is the first in place. Here is the second. A wipe of filler will get that up to scratch. The other side also needed repairs, but wasn't quite a bad. That is quite a milestone, as that is the last of the rust repairs !!!!

Finally for now - dimple dies. I want to make a panel in the engine bay, just a simple aluminium cover for the space between the grille and the radiator. I found a design on line I could 3D print, so I thought I'd have an experiment. Just 1mm ali and a quick squeeze in the vice was all it takes. Yep happy with that. I can tweak that basic design for the sizes and shapes I want to use for a minimal cost. The steering column gaiter I was working on, I finally got printed in a flexible material, and got it test fitted to the bulkhead. It was a tight fit, but it is in. Those are the semi interesting updates, there has been lots of smelly/messy filler work going on too, but nothing picture worthy really. Thanks for looking.

Hi! I've been stalking this thread from the beginning. Nice work! If possible, could you please make those 3d-models available via some platform like Thingiverse? Helps keeping these cars on the road!
3D-printing friends of mine tell that Prusa mini is the way to go, if you want to enjoy printing, not just tweaking with the printer itself.
Cheers!

That is why I bought a recon motor, so it isn't today's problem I don't expect to be driving in the rain much, so hopefully it should last a while. But the angle bracket to the left of the motor is for the parcel shelf, I'll be able to remove that if I have to get to the motor.

It looks like it's probably putting the same amount of twist onto the cable as the factory location so that really shouldn't be a problem. You may want to see about some sort of sound insulation around it though, you'll be surprised how loud that'll be mounted there. Not so much the motor but the fact it's bolted to a big old floppy sounding board.
Nice touch pulling it out of the engine bay though, they do always look a bit BL "afterthought" in there. Like the designers had an "Aw, muuuuuuuuuum, do I have to put wipers on it? Why?!" moment.
Looking good though, keep at it!
Phil

Looks similar to how the MGB has the wiper motor mounted, I remember when mine failed (motor just worked itself loose from the bulkhead lol) it was a little bit of a pain to get up under the dash to remove it but not impossible 😅

I've got a few updates since my last post. But the story is moving onto a new forum. Morris in its new homeSome of will have seen some stuff before, but the under hood shots and indicators are new. There are a bunch of painting updates, and a complete rewire that still need to be added. Hope you'll follow along for more updates

Can't understand why the OP has done this. There's been nothing but positivity for this project and now he leaves us hanging, with the only option being to sign up to a model specific forum.
