Long time browser - first post Was after a 1960's wagon/estate/longroof for a while. Had to be European as my garage won't take anything bigger Stumbled across this 1967 Morris Oxford Traveller - price was fair, it was MOT'd and was the right size/shape I was after. Being 1967 it is the same vintage as me. So about a year ago I pressed the button. It was 200 miles away so I had it delivered, unseen, bar some small pictures. I was pretty happy as it ran and drove fine. But the look - hmmmm. The wheel trims, horse badges, and anything else I could pull off was down the boot-sale within about 48hours But getting rid of the vinyl roof was the biggie, that meant the car was in the garage over the winter, and has only just emerged. The vinyl roof escalated into • Painting the top 1/3 of the car • Headliner and sunroof panel • Obtain and recondition original style front seats • Rust repairs to boot floor • Retrim of the cargo area • Hidden (largely) bluetooth amplifier • Undoing shocking electrical and fuel system bodges by suicidal previous owner • New wheels/tyres Still from 20+ feet away - looking a lot better Lots of mods still planned • Fully details engine bay • 4-link rear suspension and air-bags • Replace sills both sides Are the bigger ones on the list If it passes the MOT next week - I'll be driving around over the summer, if not I'll wheel it back into the garage and crack on.

Sometimes less really is more. Staggered steels are a nice subtle touch. The previous mods made the car look so much smaller and dowdy. Never seen one of these with a fabric sunroof before.

That looks great, but airbags will make it infinitely cool.

I'm jealous. That is rather nice. I too have a thing for British longroof models of the 50's and 60's.

What a lovely car , my dad owned a beige over brown one Back in the very early 70s, I was aged about 5 and still remember the lovely red interior and I still remember the great smell sitting in that car! Bookmarked, looking forward to more updates Thanks for reigniting my memory Good luck with it , Danny

I love old estate cars, looks like it's found the right home.
I'm surprised with all the oval racing stickers it didn't end up being wrecked at the A60 amble or similar.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm a huge fan of the red leather interior too. Alas a previous owner who was responsible for the outside abominations - had a go at the inside too. MG seat - were very comfortable, but not good for the eye Took a few months and a huge road trip to get the right seats. They didn't look much, but they were correct for the car, and in sound condition. Furniture Clinic restoration products, and lots of elbow grease and time got them looking like this Installed with restored ash-trays, and new seats belts on SHMBO insistence Getting the interior as nice as can, with my limited upholstery skills is a priority for me.

That's a dramatic improvement on the seats. Was that really just from products and not a retrim?

I don't suppose you have the MG seats still?
Interior looks much better for the older styling.

I am blown away by the seat transformation. My vinyl seats are covered in overspray (From the previous owner I feel I need to add. Who doesn't remove/cover seats when painting! ) Reckon I'll end up reupholstering them, I doubt vinyl would hold up the same way leather would to this cleaning.Anyway, this is looking really smart, going to enjoy following this thread

There are additives to add to the colours to make them stick to vinyl. I sprayed the backs to match the fronts, but can't comment on how long it will last as I haven't driven it much.
