How much is the Rogue available for?
But before you answer, a question... I'm very much a UK gen1 (ex)BMXer (I'm 50). Back then in the first wave, as you probably already know, it was all about light weight. Getting a BMX under 30lbs was the ambition and if you could get between 25lb and 28lb you were doing okay.
In the early 2000s I decided to buy a modern BMX. I forget which make but a good one. It cost a lot, but MAN WERE THOSE THINGS HEAVY!
Tricks? I Could barely lift it if it fell over. I discovered they were all like that by then. Weight counted for nothing anymore. It was all about the bike's ability to withstand a serious pounding so everything was made out of scaffold pole filled with lead.
So I'm wondering if a 90s Mongoose is of the old school and light, or more new school and heavier than a Range Rover?

The Mongoose is the heavier of the pair, but it does have the 360 head, chunkier frame and trick nuts... The Dyno is certainly the sleeker and more 'old skool' of the two...
I'll break out the wife's scales tomorrow and let you know their slimming world starting points..
As for price points i'm still trying to work out where they sit, prices have certainly moved on since i last looked at them about 10yrs ago but open to sensible offers.

Okay cool, well let me know the weight if you can sneak it on the scales. I guess I could also be interested in the Dyno too, it's just I've never heard of Dyno and Mongoose was a gen1 brand so it has that sense of nostalgia for me personally.

Picked this up a few months ago to use as a bit of a pub bike around town and decided to use the lockdown to clean it up a bit. I changed the brake cables, stripped and greased the wheel and BB bearings. I'll probably do the headset bearings this week. It was pretty rusty so spent a few hours with tin foil and white vinegar and got about 90% off the chromes is pretty pitted in places but I know it's only a cheap bike so it's not going to bother me too much

Don't currently have one but keeping an eye out for a nice little project, fancy an early to mid 90's as that was my period, checking on eBay but as expected, prices tend to be inflated. Must find a forum....

My brother is well into his BMXing and my 7 year old daughter wanted to see what it was like, so I got her a cheap bmx from the tip, did it up and she finally got a chance on a deserted skate park (my bro was already there) to have a go. Turns out shes a bit of a natural, so the cheap crappy bmx wont last long, I've bought a cheap local one off facebook so I can take her myself when its empty as our exercise. Used to do it ages ago but was a good laugh the other day so might get back into it.

Mini Minty Ethan - also 7 - is now off his stabilisers but is a bit too big already for his learner bike on 14" wheels so trying to get a bigger one that he won't outgrow too soon but bmx sizing seems to be completely different to normal bikes as adults seem to ride 20" wheeled bmxs that are listed as 8 to adult. Planning to wait until after lockdown to get measured properly but would be good to know from a bmx specialist rather than a generic bike shop worker. Cheers

They're 20", I have an abnormally tall 7 year old, she did have one with 18" wheels but seat was at its max adjustment. I wouldn't bother with the 18", in less than a year it's become useless, theres plenty of adjustment in handle bars and seat to fit a 7 year old.

He’s short for his age so probably best to stick to 18” then. Or buy 20” and I’ll have to keep it for myself if it’s too big for him.

Still fancy a Quadangle myself as they were the dogs danglies early mid 80s when I had a Mongoose Supergoose with Skyways on it. Got myself a 24" Redline Proline about 6 years ago.

Do you still have your Supergoose? I ask because... have you seen how much Supergoose go for now if they are original parts examples? £1000 and up. Way up. Likewise a proper 80's PK Ripper... even higher money. There is a supergoose frame, forks, bars and headset for sale near me. Seller says it was in his loft when he bought a house and he has no idea what it is, so he's asking peanuts for it. I'm tempted to buy it but I'm not sure what it would take to restock the bike with the right parts, and it would require the right parts to be worth a decent resale price. I'd be interested to know how you like your Redline Proline. I'm thinking of getting a decent 24" BMX. Theres a lot of curse word modern "BMX style" 24" bikes out there, but I'd prefer an original Redline or GT 24". I've never ridden a 24" BMX though and I wonder if they scale up and still feel like a BMX or whether it just becomes a cruiser. I've got cruisers falling out of my loft like confetti, and what I actually want to do is hit the local skate park but on a bike that reflects my adult size.

Aint hindsight a wonderful thing? Sadly It went when I was 16. I tried a Specialised 20" BMX in my 30s but as i no longer bounced when i came off it I called it a day. There were plenty of cheap copies of the mongoose frames but i am sure there are some good giveaways for telling them apart.
The 24 is an excellent size I found, obviously it wont be quite as chuckable as a 20 though.

Can anybody tell me if these are worth anything now or should I just give them to charity I know nothing about modern BMXs so nothing I say can be taken as accurate, but I don't imagine they are worth much more than £100 each, and in the current condition they're probably £50 bikes to the average second hand marketplace buyer. Mongoose were a Gen-1 premium brand making a relatively small number of bikes to a very high standard. I don't actually know the recent history of Mongoose itself but most of those Gen-1 brands went on to diversify into mountain bikes and all sorts of other things, and to achieve that a lot of those brands were bought by larger businesses, meaning the later models are not much more than generic quality bikes with brand badges on. My personal rule of thumb on a Mongoose is if it wasn't created under Chip Hess's ownership in the 80s then it probably isn't worth much more than the average second hand BMX of a similar era and condition.

I'd have been interested in one for daughter #2 but your geographically as far away as you could be, not sure what postage would be? Probably a pain for a bike.

Sorry for the delay, life got in the way.... The Dyno weighs in at an approx svelte 13kg and the Mongoose is a chunky 15kg. (roughly 28.5lbs and 33lbs respectively) It depends what your after one for, the Mongoose is the promenade cruiser of the two, especially with its chunky frame whitewalls and very deep chrome when polished...
