So today I tried again with the only difference being the ball-valve at the pot. It made a significant difference.
I tried just putting a little air into the pot and mb half way with the media outlet. Am nit sure exactly at what point things came alive but suddenly I had a full upright on the trailer blasted then, iirc, things slowed down as I was cleaning a tricky corner bit.
I'd noticed the other day that the 4 nozzles supplied are different sizes and turns out I had the biggest one in (3.5) so for some reason decided to try the smallest one (2.0) and things quickly went pear-shaped.
I got zero grit coming out so assumed the smaller nozzle blocked immediately. To investigate you need to unscrew the end of the gun thing and despite the ball-valve being closed there is still latent pressure in the hose and the cap flies off with grit going everywhere.
I had nothing to lose by trying a size in between and went for the 2.5 and it actually sort of worked again. It did block straight away but I found if you kept tipping the pot to side then upright again while blasting it worked sporadically. Obviously a complete curse word pain in the tits but better than nothing.
I guess doing that unblocks the outlet momentarily then you get a second or two of flow then it blocks again. So I'm thinking too much pressure despite the ball-valve 'regulator' only being cracked open.
I then turned the compressors off and tried blasting again with the decreasing pressure. This used to work on the old pot for some reason but didn't seem to work here so I'm kind of stumped now.
Mb get a new bag of media in case the old stuff is too fine or something but constantly throwing money at the problem is the easy way out and often fails.
I need to work out how to get the perfect pressure, what best nozzle is and how to make sure I'm not creating blockages. The problem is you can't see if/where a blockage is.
I'm really running out of idea here but I'm certainly getting more air so, if nothing else, I should have a less aggravating experience next time I use the air-fed mask to paint.
Mb get 10 mins before the alarm goes off instead of the previous 6
I have been using largest nozzle of the 4 sizes provided
did this bit with 3.5 nozzle in about a minute
nearly finished corner bit
opposite corner for comparison
patchy results with constant blockages
