Hoarders Hoarders I said....... I blame Prozac the Berlingo Well, I probably should blame myself. And the Chevy C10 stood in my garage in 1000 bits. So when you get your ducks in a row and want to start restoring it. Suddenly there is a load of stuff on the drive to move. And piles of stuff in the garage as well. Why have three lawnmowers ? One works reasonably-ish 3 bicycles one works Loads of stuff. Hoarder ?? Anyway.......... Back to Prozac When I bought it, mate Andy offered to sell me the VTR alloy wheels I bought off him and on collection also offered me a pile of wood. Mostly 8 foot planks. Some nailed together. Just in case I wanted to build a shed. "No thank you" I said, thinking I meant it. So I took the wheels and left. But of course as I drove off...... This was the image burned into my conscience. Tempered with the first flowers of spring. I really had nowhere to put another shed, those of you that know what my place looks like will know this. But it kept burning in the back of my mind. I guess the next is inevitable. As is the question: " Is anyone interested in this rambling diatribe " Shed thread here: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/197231/8x6x7x8-make-overflowFor you those wanting to see what happened next. Later guys.

More photos of the original progress on Prozac. Base layer mocked up. Fitted. Then of course came the time to start working on the final look planned for the car. Numbers custom cut for the Berlingo doors by Dennis. I think he had as much fun as I did up to this point. Miss Katy had come over to help as well, one needs to have an octopus like reach, and with the wind blowing one needed reflexes of a whippet to get them down right. At this point, I actually loved the look. But of course we were on a mission. To create a dummy NASCAR support vehicle. All tongue firmly in cheek. We then had lunch while the wind pumped away. The next session would be easier, but also challenging as I needed to get the look right, using real trucks to get the placement right. More in a bit.

Once all the grafix and stickers were stuck, it was out to the farm for some photos. Top view And of course the full length fabric sunroo, alwaysva joynto operate. One of the other ballache jobs to do was to replace the broken brake bias valve spring. At £22.00 it's a rip off but needed part. Old vs New. Of course to fit it you need pencil thin fingers and long too, bit like an alien, to get into the available space. Took me an hour I guess, incl removing the spare wheel etc, and refitting. Still, it's done.... one more box ticked for MOT time. Also finally finished the rear end. May be almost up to date on the van. But more to go. Thanks Photophukkit.

I can't tell if I love or hate it, but can tell you love it, so well done! Perfect response. Ultimately, as you say, I love it. And most importantly it's just a tool. Though I forget that and do speak to it often.

Well done on getting the bias spring on, just be careful when braking as if it is no adjusted correctly it can cause the rear brakes to lock up too easily! These are wonderful little motors, Mrs Ruff and I are on our 2nd and 3rd although I shall be moving mine on soon; she doesn't look bad for 192k but is very steady being the 1.9d!

Loving that fair play to you mate Thank you very much. I have always liked practicality over looks. These little motors are massively underestimated for ability and actual fun to drive. I love throwing mine into roundabouts now that I know what it can do, and seeing if I can surprise people with its agility. Totally agree. Thank you. I suspect they actually have the potential to create a scene of their own, and of course have a home forum that caters for all models, but I would prefer it to be a sub culture only, keeping prices sensible. If more if the VW/whatever else guys knew about or even just tried one of these for a day or two, they would certainly be on shopping lists. Cheap, practical, fun, spares availability, modifiable, and certainly worth having....... my list could go on. I saw a set of MG-F alloys for sale for £100.00 with tyres over the weekend, wonder if they would fit. I certainly would sell my Prozac Berlingo....... only to replace it with another Mk1 model.

Indeed. Not sure if left over or re-cast Triumph hubs or montego bits. Either way, stupid.

This keeps coming back to my thoughts re: a cheap, sensible family wagon. IMHO I prefer the facelift ones, circa 2006. One of those, dropped a little and kept clean but on Pug wheels... Cheap family fun. Additionally Grizz, fair maiden idea of "doing something" in my experience doesn't mean anything useful.... Usually it means such things as; Lunch out, Day in the country, Something involving shopping, A scenic ride, My idea of "something" was new brakes on the 1300, or complete the outside summer mansion for the rescue rabbit.... Alas no, was several hours & £100 at meadowhell. Condolences

"Doing something" is similar to "doing something together", which means "doing what she wants but you're paying"...
We've had a day at an outlet village, a night in a hotel and a day at the zoo this weekend!

I've done nothing off the "house jobs list"........ Or the cars job list.

I've done nothing off the "house jobs list"........ Or the cars job list. Agreed. And I suspect it's not the cash that's the bugbear here, but rather a lack of interest in some stately home, another Costa cofffee and endless repeat of the last two weeks worth of family or crisis or whether the bathroom needs to be painted magnolia, linen, or cream........ I find myself harvesting time in summer from the early mornings or late afternoons, typically after 6pm when I get hom and had a cuppa tea. At least the Berlingo keeps on earning its keep, and Harley keeps me company wherever I go. Collecting tins of paint and rolls of roofing felt yesterday for the shed that is nearing completing from B&Q again pointed at a great little investment. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/197231/8x6x7x8-overflow-01-05-17Going from this......
