	I've been here in The Netherlands for three months now, and there's still a huge amount of 'retro' stuff used daily compared to where I'm from. Recently, after seeing probably my tenth W124 that day, I realised that if I had to pick one style as a favourite I wouldn't be able to do it. Now the more I think about it, the more I cannot think of any other vehicle before or since that looks equally as good in every body style available: Okay, perhaps not the last one, but still. The only other 'almost' contenders I can think of are Volvo Amazons, but given the choice between the 2 door or 4 door you'd always choose the 2 door, wouldn't you? The W123 almost manages, but the coupe is hideous. Is there anything I'm overlooking?

	In my opinion the HQ Holden works pretty well in most body styles. Monaro (coupe), sedan, wagon, Statesman (long-wheelbase sedan), ute, one-tonner (cab chassis), panel van. I think the Statesman is probably the least attractive one.

	I think the E36 Compact and the Holden Statesman are hideous, sorry. The mk1 Granada is an excellent shout, though. Especially when you consider the two versions not posted above: Any more?

I think square and ugly was supposed to look prestigious in the early '80s? Perhaps? More to the point, they were trying as hard as possible to hide the fact that it was still an HQ underneath, by making it look different. The big rubbing strips are there to hide the crease line on the doors.

	I reckon the Triumph Herald works pretty well in all variants: saloon, coupe, convertible, estate and van - and in 1200, 13/60 and Vitesse bonnet styles. One of Giovanni Michelotti's best works (just don't look up the 4-door Standard Gazelle!):
