Hi everyone. I'm a long time lurker and have now decided to do a thread for the current project. I restore classic cars for a living and once finished work and weekends I do my own toys. My current collection is as follows. 2007 discovery 3 (daily and tow car) 1973 Lhd Datsun 240z 1970 datsun fairlady roadster 1973 beetle 1981 fiesta mk1 And finally my 924 turbo. I have managed to find out that it was originally sold out of porsche Glasgow to a famous Scottish hairdresser by the name of Rita Rusk (Google her. She famous for not liking Mr tax man apparently) Here's a few pic of when she was delivered. The other 924 (non turbo) was a freebie from the seller and has been useful donating parts to the turbo aswell as parts being sold of to recoup some.funds.. And once inside. The strip down has already started. I will post more pictures at the weekend. Thanks J

An update. Over the last few weeks the car has go to this condition. Engine out and engine bay stripped. Panels off (ready to be blasted), engine bay stripped and started to hand strip the paint from the shell with a hot air gun and scraper ready for the final DA down to bare metal. Stripped the rear quarters too and found the nearside quarter has had a bit of a life. I have 2 choices, panel beat dents out or replace with panels chopped from the non turbo car I broke. Here's some pictures (excuse the quality the workshop lighting is pretty poor.) Amazing how quickly bare metal starts to flash rust. A quick DA and etch prime will sort that. Finally the money shot.

This. Is. Awesome!!!
Well done indeed. Will follow this with interest.
Don't suppose you have a spare set of sunroof clips from the donor 924 you would fancy selling?
Will watch with interest.

Worthy investment, must start on mine soon. Did have 3 but had to slim down, broke my other series 2 due to sunroof drains rotting out bottom of the A pillars and rear pockets. Sold my series 1 last year due to knowhere to store it. If you get stuck for parts fire me a message and I'll have a look what I have left over. Also have a 70's Datsun Laurel myself .

What condition are the Datsun's? My 240z is an American import from nevada. My fairlady roadster is a californian import that I acquired with no engine and gearbox. It currently has a 2001 mx5 engine and gearbox with jenvey throttle bodies.

Plenty of LHD 240/260 and 280z being imported now, especially the last couple of years, the original RHD UK cars are getting rarer by the day! Only ever seen one Fairlady Roadster in the flesh, which was actually last year at the Bromley Pageant, lovely little cars, yours must be pretty rapid with the MX5 lump!

I'm only down the hill from you (H'boro) and have a feeling that guy was a builder, was also a serial hoarder of Rolls Royce's (must be a collective term for that...) at one stage too. I got my turbo Porsche fix this weekend also - albeit detailing this for a friend Looking forward to seeing how this progresses - bookmarked!

Many hours of scrapping, wire wheeling and DA'ing she's nearly in bare metal. Had a nasty bodge to fix at the off side rear that was full of filler. Luckily and easy fix as I had a panel in stock. Ready for welding in.
