Right...... Clever Beavers..... I have no bloody lodger, so wallet significantly lighter till the next one moves in, need no extra car as I have the Focus as company car while I have a job. But....... In typical manly retro loving way, my butt is still itching and I am still looking at cars, trucks and various retros that I do not need. Sadly, I am a truck and commercial kind of guy so it will always be the direction I look. I have found a Chevy S10 in Vienna, Austria..... roughly 1000 miles from where I live. So my Beaver Challenge tonight is just for some ideas and tips on how to move this truck from Vienna to Rochester, Kent in the most efficient way. Plan A would be a traditional Road trip with mate Craig and I flying on an economy flight, one way and driving nonstop back here. Plan B would involve a commercial transporter at an unknown cost. Other ideas would include random persons driving it closer to France, the English Chanel etc in various shifts..... or am I mad? So now it is over to you guys, the Eager Beavers........ Ideas??? This is the truck. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/2015%20Continues/A4B2825B-F15B-489A-A47C-F602F2563D51_zpsoyru8fk3.jpg) I did mention Stepside? Not my favourite, but extra cab wins. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/2015%20Continues/C3CC9B2D-8F5F-4024-8896-01AECAC19480_zpsghv8rk9e.jpg) Love the interior and extra space. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/2015%20Continues/E68247D7-81B1-443A-BB5F-1ACEF624F467_zps02t137re.jpg)

Two options spring to my warped mind
1 Cheap disposable car to drive down and abandon on collecting truck, estate car could be used to sleep in during the journey to reduce costs 2 Motorcycle for the trip down, which then gets loaded onto truck for the return Not really an option, but how about the train? Ttfn Glenn

I don't think you can beat the fly out drive back option.
Is Austria part of the EU? I lose track these days!
Much as I like the cheap disposable car option above, it gives you a way home if the truck turns out to be a turkey and free local transport at the far end, something strong enough to make the trip is gonna set you back at least £300 + fuel and insurance which is probably a good bit more than EZJet for 2. The plane is a lot quicker too.

Yeah I would do the cheap flight for 2 option. It doesn't make much sense to do it any other way.

Ride down on the bike, enjoy the scenery. Put it on the back, get insurance on vin number including euro recovery and drive back.

I mentioned the train, a bit tongue in cheek, but it seems It could be possible for about 75 pounds per head www.seat61.com/Austria.htm#ViennaFlying is almost certainly the practical choice, but is rather boring since there will only be the return journey as a road trip. Ttfn Glenn

I never realised there was lodgings at Grizz HQ! I was going to say fly and drive back until... Ride down on the bike, enjoy the scenery. Put it on the back, get insurance on vin number including euro recovery and drive back. Seems an excellent idea, would be a nice ride on your BMW and that bed would be plenty big enough to get the bike in.

Nice looking truck grizz. Here's my mad way, go out and buy a Ford ka, and an A-frame. Drive to Vienna, pick up cool chevy truck, fix A-frame to the Ka, hitch up to the Chevy, drive home, sell the Ka, and enjoy cool chevy truck (now with added mad story of how you brought it home) at your leisure. Oh, and post whole Top Gear style adventure here so we can all enjoy the madness!

Seems Fly/Drive is the best option. Penski *n had the same idea as a couple of other guys. I cannot take any leave at the moment for starters, but there were a few replies like this elsewhere.......... I went back onto eBay.de last night and found another, closer and cheaper, just could not understand what it all said. It was also slightly more powerful, Fleetside and Extracab. Year model shown as 98 and power 110kw which implies a V6 of sorts, I think. Still, it seems Fly drive is the ideal way to do it, along with European recovery. Watch this space.

Fly in drive out any day. It's a little bit different but we bought my wife's BMW 1100KM down the road and we would do it again. Just enjoy your flight, have a few days on location and take your time to drive it back. Make it a small "honeymoon" you know bit of man and machine bonding session....

So a 1000ish mile drive then Rian. Lets leave now and we will be home before Midnight.... Road Trip. There is no other option. Fly over on Saturday morning - Ferry from the Hook of Holland would knock 300 miles off the journey - sleep on the ferry home in time for Sunday lunch. If you do it at the weekend I will happily join you. Did I send you the link for LS swapping an S10..... P. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I shall step up as the boring, wet flannel type. You have a truck in bits, in your garage. Time and funds are in short supply. Buying another truck will stall the build of your existing one by soaking up available funds and time Which truck would you rather be driving and how soon? Ttfn Glenn Don't flame me for being a boring old fart. How about going direct to source for a selection of trucks? www.getauto.com/for-sale/chevrolet-s--10-12?zip=94107&fromyear=1980&toyear=2018&fromSRP=On

Then look for a new project. Otherwise nothing ever gets finished.

This truck is 100% not meant to be a project of any sort.
It is meant to be driver from day one.
No more projects.

Shipping cost of £1700-2000 pre-Brexit rules this out. The vehicles being looked at here are c.£2k to purchase, then some incidentals. Even if acquired free in the US, it would probably blow any sense of a budget.
