After watching everyone having such a blast at Mallory Park last weekend, it's left me with the desire for something FAST! I'm building cars in my head all the time, and as soon as I have the funds I'm gonna have some fun! Something cheap, probably FWD to avoid "Drift Tax"... dunno. All pie in the sky at present but I'm having fun with virtual builds. The Benz will still be getting love of course, but it's not exactly the best candidate for a trackday weapon ;D Just wondering if anyone else has been bitten by the bug?

Oh hell yes. Loved the sheer grip from my Audi but made me determined to tame the understeer (looking at a rear anti-roll bar) and I need MORE POWER!!! So watching a 2.3 20v (5-cyl) engine on Ebay - trouble is it's still in a car, and I haven't got room for another car! This post could be a reply on the Alister's disease thread... why do i do it? As for cheap FWD non-scened toy... I heartily recommend a Scirocco: Power of a Golf GTI Build quality of a Golf GTI Performance better than a Golf GTI Handling better than a Golf GTI Rarer than a Golf GTI Cheaper than a packet of Ready Salted And loads of secondhand tuning bits available. And the Scirocco Register people* are extraordinarily knowledgeable and helpful * That would include me

Yeah, slow cars sux
However I'm not in much position to do much about much at the mo.
Best car I had for any of that kind of fun was my old Victor with the tuned Chevy V8 in it. Mental mental mental. I should never have sold it.
I was going to V8 the Ventora but sold it instead.
I'd love to V8 the Cortina but its my daily driver.
My Sport Fury will be pretty quickish when its back on the road. The Buick is not so slouchy and I reckon the Olds has it in it to make some moves.
none of which handle a damn but thats no bother to me.
I just need to be back in a car where you can be doing 40 down the by pass, go to pass some kid on a moped and when you get on the gas shake the whole car leave black lines on the road and fill the car up with smoke....

I feel your pain! Trying to get the Scirocco fixed today and hopefully i'll be able to run it properly then. Watching that black Spitfire tear around the track really made me want to take the GT6 out for a rip but for the fact that i had to travel all night in it to get home!!! J.P. almost convinced me to go on at one stage - he offered me ten english pounds towards any repairs!!!
I'd love a V8 for the Magnum but (a) cant find one in Ireland and (b) cannot afford to buy or run one. Have to say Topi's red top is a very convicing engine swap and after seeing what its capable of but the Kadett through........

Bitten and suffering bad.
I have the cars, mainly the GT and I am now 200 pound lighter after purchasing Wilwood Calipers and vented dics. of course this wont make me go any faster but will help on the track.

Slow cars do not suck! I may have been last but one in the sprints but by 'eck did I have a laugh! Granted, it was good that there were not too many straight bits. If there were, I would have had to take a book with me to read!

Badly feel the need for something fast. As wobbler says slow cars do have advantages - when you push too far you might go on some grass or at worst knock a wheel on a kerb. Same 'lost it' moment in a fast car would probably result in hospital time.
What is really f***ing annoying me is that i have a really fast car just sitting gathering dust in southampton. Goddamnit i need to get the new gearbox on that, STAT!

Hmmmmm - need for speed I need- A lower diff to stop the 3500 rpm drop between 2nd flat out and 3rd and enable me to use 4th at the end of the sprint instead of limiter in 3rd - 200 kgs weight loss (this winter should see that sorted) The car not me - I don't need a diet - 30 more bhp (coming soon cams, triple webbers and a re-map to the ignition) - A 500rpm increase to the rev limiter so that the limiter didn't cut in between hairpin and chicane (should have dialed that in before I left home (stupid thing to forget to do) - A lot more camber on the front to help bite - Not running a brim ful tank of fuel (as I did cos I was worried about traction of the line) Then I'd have a damn good poke at that "bike engined imp" that took the title Take things serious - Moi - Not much ;D

Right, that's it, anybody have an Audi 200 turbo lying around that they don't want any more?

I agreee Dollywobbler... a nice cruse around mallory looked the order of the day... I can recommend any Tolken book for the main straight. Does anyone know if seatbelts were needed for the sprint laps, my car was never fitted with them and they are not fitted now.... don't mind fitting them but spoils the rebel in me.

Me too, we've all been iaffected in the same way it seems. No way i could of embarrassed myself in a half fixed up old mk3 festa 1.1 after all the at high calliber drifts and super B'stardchild-Ski (two wheeler) mode sprints no wai! It would of been ok ona smaller track, No its time to crack on with the V8, just as soon as i get a few items off the converyor belt of reanimation sorrow and onto the classifieds.... Got big ideas for the other MR2 too, just not right now...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Currently 1400 kgs - fully tanked up (Oil, coolant, Fuel, and washer fluid all at max) with spare wheel jack wheel brace etc etc - all glass still glass plus all the bumper irons behind the plastics etc etc Yep - thats the plan - triple 40's running 36mm chokes plus a set of reprofiled cams waiting to go on (what is the weight/power as it stands B-Child?) Current bhp is 180 at the rear wheels - 225-235 ish at the crank although it varies from rolling road to rolling road - wheel bhp is a lot more consistant. It's the torque that makes all the difference - the curve if you can call it one looks like an ironing board and its 200 ft/lb nearly all the way from 2000 rpm to 6000 rpm I never know if you take engine bhp or rear wheel bhp as power part of power to weight Right, that's it, anybody have an Audi 200 turbo lying around that they don't want any more? LOL - you have got it bad

Although I didn't make the show I too have the need for more speed. I'm torn between dropping a 1.3 with bike carbs in the Polo or selling it and getting another MKII Golf Gti.
