Two cars of mine have both appeared on eBay recently,my mk2 cortina I sold five years ago for £4000 was bought recently for over 12 grand and my 2.0s Capri sold for 3k 3 years ago was on eBay at £10k.....that ford scene is crazy! I've searched for years for AKK 299K ,one of my old mk1 escorts, mint when I sold or in 1986,it's dissapeared I'd love it back Yep Ford scene is mental,i thought the bubble would burst but it doesn't look like happening anytime soon. We ought to have a sticky thread with reg numbers listed by make and model that guys are searching for, bound to be a few of them tucked away somewhere.

Does this count? My wifes old '95 Mitsubishi Space Runner is still running around our village, 3 years and 2 owners later I still see it regularly. But totally without regret and I have no desire whatsoever to buy it back! It still looks just as rough as it did when we owned it! I suppose I ought to really, it was never a common car when new and I haven't seen another for some time. Drop Evo running gear in for the best sleeper of all time!

I forgot probably my biggest success story! Golf cabrio I had for a year or so, loved it but the other half's car died so I had to sell it to fund her new purchase . I lowered it whilst I had it and ran some stupid turbines which seemed to fall off every week. Did a ton of miles in it! Anyway, a couple of owners later I found it for sale on Facebook. Needed a fair bit of money spending on it and at the time I didn't have the space so it fell off the radar for a while. Months and months later it appeared on a specialist car website, 3 times the price I had paid and sporting new paint and a new roof amongst other things! Needless to say it was now out of my reach but I hope it has been pushed into a more pampered life!

The best small car I've ever owned. Bought as an oil leaking hulk I spent many years crafting this little dude back to shiny town and it was a pleasure to own and drive. Used daily and virtually mint, bar that strip under the grill which was where a massive stone hit it. I come upon the chance to buy a vehicle that I had always wanted, so in 2010 this was sold to raise the deposit. It had minimal tax and MOT left on it but would have sailed through another test. A few fellas turned up in a dilapidated bread van, bought it and drove off into the sunset. That was the last time that this little car ever 'legally' drove on the road. I still to this day check to see if it made it back, but I think I should give up now, let it go and just be happy with the memories and the handful of digital pictures that I have. This thread is sadder than the abandoned thread in some cases. I need a cup of tea...

I sold my Datsun 100a 'Flying Custard' a few years ago and then I got a message on my Facebook page from a guy in Wigan who had three 100a's and guess what! One of them is my old one! It's not road worthy but at least it's got good company.

Another more happier turn out was that back in 2002 or 3 I managed to obtain a sad and very sorry MGBGT with an extremely sad history. Got it going and drove it around private land for a bit and then I moved house, so it was put into storage in a greenhouse at a nursery. Then I got established in my new home and rented a small garage for the car. It had had some rather crude repairs carried out on it but work started on saving it, involving the purchase of a lot of parts costing a million pounds from the MGOC, including some sebring parts however, surprising and frequent rental increases and tightening rules on the little garage, and working away from home meant that the car had become a financial liability so it was put up for a quick sale. Not much interest at the time except from a well known magazine who wanted to feature it as a project build and then give it away. At last! A happy ending for the car, so I let it go. It was a bit controversial as the mag featured repairing modern cars and this was, well, old... but nether the less it got built and finished. I can't find anything on the car except it is on the road currently and this little bit of info from the mags back order index:
MG •MGB GT Project 1.Pt9 Refitting brightwork, Jan 05, p40-43 2.Pt10 Finish engine and inspect gearbox, Feb 05, p20-23 3.Pt11 Lower engine & gearbox, fit windscreen & begin interior, Mar 05, p44-47 4.Pt12 Door glass, chrome trim and tailgate refitted, Apr 05, p44-47 5.Pt1: More fitting up, May 05, p42-45 6.Pt14 Finishing touches, June 05, p42-45
That's as far back as it goes but it's like all history of the project has vanished, no pics, nothing.

My first proper car that I poured money into and modified was this F7R 340: I loved it at the time but the reliability issues wore thin. I don't regret selling it even if it popped up recently looking like this: Ah well, can't save them all. Then there was this one, bought broken from a friend. Fixed her up, was perfect for two weeks. Then I crashed it. So I got it back up on the ramp, pulled the chassis straight-ish and carried on. Eventually sold it. Then it popped up on facebook that it had been crashed a few more times: Ah well, some cars are just doomed. But I've had loads of success stories too and I'm happy for the cars/truck that I own right now and how I've made them better.

I had a £750 moggy minor with mismatched fibreglass wings, massive mot advisory list, gaffer tape over rusty bits for the mot etc. I ran it for a while before deciding if it didn't have money spent on it it would die. Sold it on ebay, then found it online a few months later looking pristine. Clean MOT sheet. It's great to know that someone sorted it out. Let me know if it was you! HNU 460H

Looks good for a few months work. Let's just hope it wasn't used for a ringer.

I hadn't though of that! The guy bought it from me for quite a bit, and the mot history stacks up so I think it's unlikely.
(just checked with my old photos, pretty sure it's the same car)
