I *think* there's a second round of ticket deliveries this week, and the display passes are going out on Tuesday.
It seems that I may now get all of the passes for BNMAC and will therefore need to be on the gate to hand them out to BNMACers as they arrive. Not sure, but one way or the other we'll get it sorted.

Need to try and find time to give mine a wash, and to stick some black wax on which seems to help make it look half decent despite the surface of the car having the texture of a Hobnob. Just realised I was supposed to go and buy some autosol this weekend, to try and add a little bit of shine to my wheels and chrome, but I forgot, DANGNABBIT. An evening trip to Halfrogs is on the cards.

even though it says "don't use it on chrome" in the instructions? Please post your findings

Me too Going to use on wheels though... there are a couple of bits of chrome on the Fug unfortunately, the bits on the exhaust tips are empi chrome too, so why they aren’t more rusty is a mystery... Thinking of taking some Vaseline too, so people can do soft focus photos of the Fug

Autosol is VERY abrasive, which is why it looks good, but it damages what you put it on. I still use it for some stuff so its not a bad product. Just that there are better products out there for most things.
Mother alloy polish is very good, polishes quick and you use a fraction of the amount compared to Autosol.

even though it says "don't use it on chrome" in the instructions? Please post your findings For which, Autosol? I've used Autosol on my chrome front bumpers and it's absolutely fine. My front bumpers have always had a crackle of splits all over the chrome and I get rust bursts spreading out from them slowly over time. Autosol takes them straight off and the bumpers look shiny and new after using it. If you were referring to the Mother's stuff as being unsuitable for chrome... I have enough Autosol left to do just the bumpers, so I'm fine. I was going to be removing the bumpers to fit the black fibreglass ones I've got, but I'm out of time for this weekend.

It's the abrasiveness I need. These wheels are old and they really get grime impregnated into them. It's night on impossible to bring them up good. Autosol (after a pre-scrub of bicarbonate of soda and coca cola with a non-stick scouring pad) does the best job of cutting back through the grime... so if this stuff is less abrasive it might not pass muster... but it will still be good to stick it on afterwards I guess.

It should be fine,Autosol is too abrasive & damages the surface. If you really want to bring them up you could sand them down with grade 2500 wet n dry and then polish them. A mop on a hand drill takes all the work out of it.

A mop on a hand drill takes all the work out of it. Indeed, but I'm really just looking for a very quick and dirty fix I can do in the spare fifteen minutes I have before the weekend. Most of the time I just leave em dirty. I just thought I ought to find time to make the minimum effort. It's highly likely that the reason they don't ever clean up well is because the surfaces were damaged by a previous owner cleaning them with the wrong stuff. In my ownership I've found the closest I can get to cleanish is the bicarb scrub and then autosol. It does a good job. I'd still like to paint them black one day, or get them vinyl wrapped. I want to murderise my car as completely as possible in the fullness of time. If it lasts that long.

Just ordered a pair of these to try out. Hopefully they arrive before the weekend. Might work, might not, but for £7 each I've got nothing to lose (coincidentally £7 each is also the reason I doubt they'll actually make any difference at all but my wife can use them as garden dibbers if so). ^ Jetex Decibel reducers to slip inside the exhaust pipes. I was thinking of buying these but at £56 each it's a bit more of a risky outlay. Especially when you consider they sit on the ends of the tailpipes and my car is side-exit... I'd be swiping pedestrians over like skittles as I hoon my way to Goodwood. Merlin Motorsport emergency silencers for too loud track cars... They look pretty cool out the back on rear exhausts though I reckon.

if both ends of the jetex things are open holes tim , you could cut 4 lontitudinal slots in the internal end and just bend the bits inwards to close the hole until you get the volume you want .

I have a couple of those in my arsenal from when we used to do a lot of track days.
We used to get by with one between two cars at the static nose test by rolling up at different times. Didn't really matter as the turbo charged car shuts up under boost on track and never gets caught out on drive by noise.
Unfortunately they got wise to our trick at one venue and started making down which cars passed with cans on, hence the purchase of another!

I did almost decide that for all they are, my spare bits of grill mesh might work just as well if rolled into tubes with the right sized washers fixed at one or both ends. But that would take more time than just ordering these snake oil gizmos and they claim they'll deliver by Wednesday.

They will make a miniscule difference, you might just notice it. Spent ages playing with noise on mine for the IVA test and tried all the tricks, only way to shut a noise up is a bigger silencer.
Try yours for a bit first, they do get quieter with use.

Try yours for a bit first, they do get quieter with use. I've had a couple of good long blasts now. I know it's still early days in terms of them sooting up and quietening down a bit but I'd say the tone has changed but not the sheer noise assault of assertive acceleration. I don't think they could ever quieten down that much. I just need to find the extra little back boxes that were on the Humber. I thought those were Jetex too but they don't seem to sell what I seem to remember fitting under the Humber to quieten that down. I'm also half thinking the noise might actually be greater inside the car (they are right beneath a fibreglass floor) than it actually is outside, but I haven't had the dubious privilege of hearing my own car roaring past me, so I don't know. My wife still says she doesn't think it's that much louder, but when I pressed her on it and said "seriously? You honestly don't hear much difference??" She cracked a little and in a slightly panicked voice said "can we stop talking about it because to be really honest I cant stand the thought you've just become even more of a nuisance to the neighbours than you were before. I just don't think I can cope with that" hahaha

Well, the thing is, right, when I decided £7 was a reasonable punt on some decibel reducers, it wasnt with high hopes of them achieving very much at all, but it was based on the firm belief that the patterns impressed in the outer surface in the image hinted at some basic disruptive internal element that did some sound damping work... But no. They're just tubes... And whilst they do seem to dampen down the idle noise, I really cant see them stopping the Extreme Noise Terror of accelerating modestly away from the zebra crossing in 1st at 1500rpm.
