Hi guy got a desire in my head for a sporty 2+2 for me the Mrs and our daughter. The kind of thing where you load up a few bags and head off to europe for a week. Now money no object I'd go out and get a Lamborghini Espada or a big ol V12 Ferrari. But with a budget ideally less than £3k things are harder. MGB GTs appear to small XJS's are either too expensive too broken or an automatic. I've even thought about other varied ideas of a mk3 supra or a 3 door V8 90's Range Rover from Spain or Portugal.
So I've turned too you guys for some ideas now it's needs to be *room for 2 adults and a toddler in a child seat *decent engine for a fast cruise so big 6 cylinders or V8s *manual gearbox *reasonable amount of comfort but still be a decent drive in the twisties
So hit me with what you've got pictures eBay links etc.

Jag xk8? They're quite affordable and in your budget.
Air of an e type about them and rather nice all round. My dad has one and he's used it driving all over the country and Europe. Eats the miles effortlessly.

Yes they are cheap and good looking. But too modern for me and all are automatics.

Porsche 944! ![](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/media/img/articles/supplementary/porsche944.jpg) Despite what the know it all armchair enthusiast so called experts who have never owned one will tell you, it IS a real Porsche. I used to run around with my children in the back of one. They are very well balanced, comfy long distance even if you're a lard- ![](http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2009/11/fox_60.jpg) like me. Good to look at, cheap to buy, cheap to maintain. And have plenty of poke!

I spotted this but didn't put it on as I'm assuming west4x4 doesn't want to have to finish a rebuild before using his new car. You should get a driving usable Scimitar for £3K if you keep your eye on what's coming up for sale but for that sort of money it might not be pretty.

When I was younger my 18 year old mate got a 2.6 V6 one as his second car. It wasn't mega mega quick but it did alright, it sounded lovely and was really well screwed together. In your position I would be looking for one of them.
