I prefer two round pipes sticking out in odd places. But I'm an old Detroit hillbilly, so that explains a bunch of stuff But anyway- I have discovered a way to pull rust out of old paint and I'm sure car people know about it, but I was shocked to see it restore color to this thing. The front half of the truck was sanded/flatted down by the previous owner or I could have saved more of this truck's colors. Crazy! Anyway- here is the result of 28-31 hours since Saturday Morning. Happy father's day everyone! My kids were home and they helped with stuff and the family sat outside in the sun while I worked on the truck. Nice. For your Viewing pleasure= Video:

A real shame about the paint on the cab, looks absolutely fantastic. Did you use CLR or some magic Grenade mix? P.

The stuff I use to make the rust color on new metal. To make rust, I use Muriatic acid, wait until it dries and then spray peroxide on the metal and it makes instant rust. To remove rust, I just put muriatic acid in a spray bottle and let it sit on the rust for a few minutes, then I wiped it off with a dry rag. I couldn't believe how much it removes. The long tedious part about this job were those running boards and the exhaust. Man, that took SO long to pound out those little curves. I hope the next one I do will have solid running boards, I could save an entire day's work on those alone. The deck boards in the bed, were supposed to be more of a gray color, but the can of stain was more blue than gray, I might do a light sanding to reveal more wood color or just go over the blue with a gray color. Not sure how I feel about blue boards. I've got a busy week this week so I'm not sure how much time I'll get with it this week. It's close

Wonderful and visionary. I think serious consideration to a old truck/car building holiday business is a must. There is an English Electric Lightening in the Us of America that a few enthusiasts go out to quite often to spanner and fettle.

I might sand the blue to reveal more of the wood color, that will lighten it up quite a bit. I might leave it- don't know yet. Work is CRAZY this week. Schedule looks like at least 3 12 hour days. We have a couple big jobs and they need me. This is the time that I have to give them what they pay for all year. Hey- it is what it is. We had a few laughs today and we have good Italian lunches with home made foods- I'll make it through ok lol Meanwhile- it's 10:52 PM and I have to get some sleep- as we say in America- "I ain't getting any younger"

Apparently applying vinegar onto wood with steel wool will distress it. I have used a blow torch in the past to darken areas and then sand back.

So what do you think? Remove the blue and make it gray? Your call. It's not going to be yours to love and love and love and drive. So a new owner could decide. So possibly go with what you believe will sell, rather than the look.

So what do you think? Remove the blue and make it gray? I'd leave the body exactly as it is now.

Nice, that color works now!!!
PS: When you do the next one, if you start with a 1 1/4 ton R120, then please let me know as I'm looking for a complete set of rear brakes for my father-in-law back in South Africa, Seems the previous owner didn't hear the brakes making any noise until the drums sheared into two!! Both of them !!!

The heat and AC controls are working nicely. I have the condenser and the lines mounted, I just need to have two hoses made, and I should be able to fill the AC with R134. Then, it should have air. I have a bunch of little patching to do, the wheels and tires, mount the automatic fan & relay, the front bumper, wire in the lights.... I have to check my list but that's most of what's left. I'm starting to get a bit excited about this one really. If the AC actually works in this one? MMmm, the price just went up

Could not resist sharing these next two pics. It's wet, not clear coated. Front bumper, lights and a few other things yet to go. But here are the wheels that I have chosen. I like them, it fits the vision I had perfectly.
