Yeah, went and looked and then posted a question the same Just need to find a cheap pair of single circuit master cylinders then..... which makes me wonder if a clutch master cylinder would work?

Got a single circuit M/C here you can have for free if you are going to VW Action in sept - cost of shipping it from the netherlands is prob more than it's worth.

Change to swing arm?? Eh..? Or you mean just the torsion bars? No, fiddle brakes are legal, they just operate the rear brakes independently left or right. You don't need to buy anything expensive just two single circuit master cylinders with pressure fittings on the top where the reservoir would normally be. Thats exactly what mine has. Well worth fitting, lots more fun and manouverability off road or in snow. You can also use it like a limited slip diff. If you get stuck with one wheel spinning gently brake that wheel until the opposite one starts turning and watch yourself become unstuck. Very handy on a 2 wheel drive car.

There is autojumble both days - remind me towards the end of august and I will make sure I get if off the old chassis and put it in the car for you. It's was on a working car until a few months ago, so no issues as far as I know.

Very unlikely, if anything just because I don't fancy the 5+hour drive each way in it. Done it before, and it's not all that much fun.

Thinking about it I might have a single circuit one in my shed you can have. Just tap where the reservoir would attach and wind in a fitting, and interrupt the rear brake line and pit it into the top. Then the output of the cylinder goes to the brake. When you brake normally, the fluid just flows through the cylinder. One lever for each side is as good as a clever single lever with a linkage like the one you posted. Cheap, easy, and funz!

I did look at hydraulic handbrakes, because it would have saved having to make up VW front to 944 rear cables, but found they wouldn't pass MOT, it's the same principle really (but with 2 cylinders) Yeah, I think 2 levers would be easier to make, and possibly easier to operate.... as each wheel will have its own lever

These are exactly the same as a hydraulic handbrake aye. But cos you will have a mechanical hand brake too, its all good. You could get really cocky and have them driven off actuators with electric push buttons on the steering wheel...

Yours is a Fug too isn't it? Yes, mine is a Fugitive, as you know they are quite a tight squeeze in the cockpit. Mine are two levers as close together as possible to the right side of the drivers seat, the position works well, I'd take a pic to show you but havent worked out how I'm going to overcome this Photobucket mess yet, I need to decide where to put pics. I made the right side lever longer than the left, it makes it easy to use one or the other by feel without accidentally operating both.

Didn't take photos, as we were just going to chuck the headlights originally. But they were painted black, without any prep and I think with a broom, over brown and looked terrible. We bought the LED units, so thought we should try to refurb the headlights, we rubbed down to start with but found it easiest to strip the black paint off with a wire brush and Stanley blade, then rub down the brown. Nearly there.... Then primed, and blew them over with Ford Mercury Grey (just so I can match it later) the same as the shocks And fitted the LED units to have a look at the end result Got to get the wires through the hole in the bolt, and fit the control units, but think we'll fit them near the fuseboard at the front anyway

The guy supplying the shed let us down again, my mate says he'll organise getting it dropped off whilst we are on holiday. We are away on holiday next weekend, but all the camping stuff is on a shelf behind all the bits of buggy in what we call the garage So guess what we did with the buggy this weekend!! Lucy worked double shift too, so we did it all very quietly as well! We did have a fiddle with the seat runner, which bolt straight up to the low back buckets, just need some better bolts and penny washers, but had to cut the adjuster handle as it won't fit (the seats are really narrow!!) And as consolation for emptying and reloading the garage, Tom tried out the Fugitive weather protection, which fitted fine.... I got it a few years back in a closing down sale at a bike shop as a spare for Lucy, but she said it was uncomfortable.... so that's a win (as long as Tom's head doesn't grow before we get the Fug on the road ) Away next weekend and going to the gathering on the way home. So no more for a few weeks!

Just a thought on helmets in Fugitives. Fugitive roof rails are close to your head, your low seats look good, but you might find a helmet a tight fit.
In mine we use motorcross goggles. Easily available and easy to carry or store when you go somewhere. For eye safety and comfort you cant practically be in a screenless fugitive with nothing or just some sunglasses so you will want some protection but in warm weather you might like motorcross goggles which seal onto your face with a foam surround.
edit - I see yours has a screen, still something to think about though as the screen area on them isnt wide enough to offer much protection.

We are going to use a fly screen, the screen is quite scratched and has quite a bit of weld/grinder splatter on it... The Fug 4 is a bit bigger, so I think it's only the roof bar I will need to watch out for, but I suspect you are right and a helmet will be a pain (But if we can get it on the road, I might see if we can get a place on the hillclimb next year, and will need to wear helmets for that I believe) Being a specky who lost a set of prescription Oakley in the sea a few years back.... MX goggles sound a good shout!

We have done a little bit since we got back from holidays The Gathering was great, and we all really enjoyed it... but there are plenty of pictures elsewhere, taken by people with skills I managed to blag a couple of rolls of felt for the roof of the shed, so dropped them off for the weekend, and some lamp irons (or whatever you call them) to drive into the tarmac scrapings to keep the shed from moving (it has no floor) Whilst there we got rid of the bits of beam that were welded to the frame head Then carried on and chopped some of the other bodged bits out and started to tidy it up And then chucked this in the scrap bin More to be chopped out and tidied up, but we only had a couple of hours... left the felt there, and we are going back on Saturday to erect the shed, and hopefully get some time on Monday as well when Lucy has a sleep before work
