Right well been using the van bit more lately, the other day i took it out to the scrap yard to weigh some metal and old batterys in. When I got there a guy who works there I know from school game me these, good scrub and some back to black, boom, on they go think they looks the part, i'v also ordered some gas struts for the boot as it currently doesn't stay up. Currently undecided on wheels, I had my heart set on banded steels which I still think i'm gonna do anyway but I am getting mega tempted to order some 12x6 deep dish revolution wheels but i'm not sure on the offset and how well they will fit.

I just got some NOS mudflaps for my Maestro van! As for offsets, if you work out the offset on your current wheels then go on willtheyfit.com, dial in the specs and try differnt sizes of wheels to see what the perfect offset/fitment

Update time Main thing that annoyed me with the van when I bought it was the gas struts on the boot were pooped and didn't hold the boot lid up any more. So bought some off eBay which did the trick. Iv also set about tiding the rear up, So I took the panels off and painted them black and painted the rear cover on the boot lid black as well. thing i'm currently sorting is a sound system, I know its not original but this is the main car I now use to bomb around in as its so good on fuel. So I do want to do a few upgrades. Picked up a pair of speakers off a mate cheap and fitted them in the rear panels. and this second hand head unit off another mate Annoyingly metro vans never came with wiring for a head unit so I need to take the dash off and wire it all up to finish it off. i would like to make a wooden cover for the load bed, replace the dash as this one is full of holes, get the front seat repaired or retrimmed as its covered in gaffer tape and it does need a front panel, I knew it had filler in when I bought it but I bumped in to a kerb when I took it to the seaside the other day and found out how much haha. But her she currently and thats probably how its gonna look for the next year until the MOT runs out and I'll get all the body work sorted. On a side now if anyone has any mk1 metro wheels kicking around they want to sell please let me know!!!!!

Heres a proper update, Right so I redid the tape on the front panel that currently covers the few rusty spots and bad filler work, This is only temp until its out of MOT and it gets a new front. I got fed up of the tiny steering wheel but managed to get hold of a new old stock yellow one which I think looks pretty cool. Finally found a set of mk1 metro wheels, Picked them up for £40 when I was at Mini In the Park last weekend which was a totally result Grabbed a set of tyres for them as well, Wheels have been boxed up and sent to Banded Wheels Essex they rang me to say they have arrived, Will come back to me in 12x7j all shot blasted just need a coat of paint. Random shot of both my tros together. and today I finally got round to fitting the second fog light in the rear bumper. can't really see it as I flyeyed the lenses. I also picked up a pair of mini shock absorbers this morning which I'm gonna for on when the banded wheels go on, Thats about it for now, Fingers crossed the banded wheels get here in time to paint them and get tyres on so I can roll to retro rides gathering with them on,

This is a very neat little project, and a rarity too. Didn't realise they were making the vans with the Mk1 face as late as '88, I thought they'd facelifted them by then. Now I wonder if they ever facelifted the van version.

Now I wonder if they ever facelifted the van version. It's not a mk1, it's a mk2. But still with the recessed headlights, metal bumpers and low filler flap that usually denotes a Mk1. I'd expect flush fit headlights for a Mk2 and the higher filler flap.

Nice survivor van bookmarked to see progress. Got to agree about the front lights and bumpers being mk1 and the bonnet and dash and the age of car being a mk2 made they were made from 85 on.... As for filler cap that stayed in same place from 80 through to 89 then change higher from then on. Then obv the change to rover 100 from 90. Good luck with the project and enjoy iv had more of these then I remember lol mg, Vanden plas, base, red hot, jet black etc and had much fun but a mk1 is the choice for me Try get a spoiler for it or mg kit

Cheers for all the nice comments guys, The front end is a poverty spec mk2 front, All the van had this front end on them and so did some of the very very basic car versions as well for a while.
I would love rear lourve for the rear window but trying to find one for sale is impossible.
