Hi Good news on the purchase, not many straight ones left! Afraid I don’t know the answers to either but I do have a handbook at home that I can check. That would be great! I'll stick up some pics when I get the chance. Picture as promised. It's really straight and original, but does need a few bits and pieces, especially replacing the trailer spec tyres which have no wet weather grip whatsoever. I'd love to run it with these 12x5 Alleycats, but unfortunately, with the required 4x120 to 4x101.6 adaptors, they'll have too much poke... I've got a few questions, so rather than hijack your thread, I'll drop you a PM if that's okay?

wow that IS clean! That's only the second I've seen that good! I've seen some companies recommended in the past that redrill alloys and fill the original holes in if you do want to fit those alleycats. (Not sure if the hub mounting section of the wheels are suitable for that thought)

Latest Acty updates from the body shop... 1967 Chevy tubs chopped up and welded in the bed to hide the rear wheels and the rear hydraulic strut mounts. They look like they were always there. The drop sides spaced out to allow the rear wheels to tuck under and the rear drop panel widened to meet up to the spaced out sides. It looks a bit top heavy in the photo but I think that’s an optical illusion caused by the upper panel being darker than the lower currently due to the upper in epoxy and the lower in bare metal. I’m going to build a wooden chest to hide the battery and hydraulic springs box and build in a luggage area into it and fit it just behind the cab - probably do it in a nice high gloss deck oil.

This proton has the exact same spot on cheekyness as Mark Bognors old red micra. Just the correct application of the correct everything on the wrong right car. Awesome. Probably says more about the RR mindset than anything else imo.

Thanks for the words, much appreciated, my standards will never be up there with all of the “complete” builds on here but I do enjoy having fun with aesthetics and applying ideas that pop into my head.

However. It is a whole helluva lot about the spectators too. And you have delivered for us in spades. Some builds are Mega Bucks, and some are Mega Fun... I think all your builds have always been about your own taste, standards and budget, and also this forums ethos. So trust me when I say to you, that when you build, people do take note and want to play along. You done good, AGAIN.

Another one for the "My Wife Would Kill Me" thread (don't go looking for this thread, it runs continuously in the back of my mind)
I would like to see it combined with the other one on here with the K-series VVC? For maximum daily fun!

For maximum daily fun! That’s where my bravery falls short - when it comes to custom engine swaps. Although I was interested to discover that 4 cylinder mistubishi engines of higher cc are apparently direct bolt on swaps even as far as leaving standard gearbox in place.

At really retro shoe there was a company making cut graphics on site, I’d planned on getting this made up for a while but hadn’t got around to organising it. Unfortunately impatience got the better of me. Don’t try applying a windscreen sticker on your own on a windy airfield. I ruined the intensifies on one of the stickers as it flipped over and stuck back on itself and then I tried to apply it as separate stickers. Didn’t take into account the windscreen curve. Yes it looks / looked curse word. Looked because I removed them when I got back from work tonight. The EUROBEAT on the back looks decent so that’s staying.

Another bodyshop photo, no more work since last photo but you can get a good idea for the overall look in this shot... And this was out yesterday... I’m actually on the cover. If that won’t put people off buying nothing will

With the lovely weather yesterday and the fact I’ve now made it down to the “alloys for the daily” on my priority list I used my car time yesterday to spray up the fomb wheels in Montana hardcore gloss black. I gave them a wash with washing up liquid and a cloth first so didn’t use the wipes in the photo. The base from our old circular dining table makes a good height stand for wheel painting... One can used for one coat on all four alloys on the reverse side... Left them for about an hour while I tidied the house up and generally sat in the shade. Fronts ready... Done... I used two cans for the faces - one per coat - again with a gap for drying in between. The only issues were cases of nozzle splatter on two of the wheels possibly caused by me not shaking the can enough or leaving an uncleared nozzle a fraction too long. I also inadvertently left a couple of blades of grass on one of the wheels thinking it was marks from sitting on the grass rather than grass blades stuck to the wheel itself. If they flake off at some point I’ll give that area a quick respray. They’ll do for the daily which spends 90% of its time dirty. Although that will hopefully reduce “when” I don’t have any other car jobs left to do. Paint cost was £16.88 for 3 cans including delivery from graff-city, about 10% of the cost of full refurb and powder coat which i could get done if the Ignis ever becomes a show car rather than a daily.

Did a wheel cheap on Friday too.
£1.00 Poundland gloss black.
Though it was the spare, and two coats for the front, one blow over on the rear.
Just for cosmetic fit in.
Yours look a whole helluva lot better. And I do like those wheels.

I’ve been tempted by the Poundland paints a few times but the need for prep and primer puts me off compared to ready to spray graffiti paints.
