Don't get too hung up on the Huracan, you will be beating him on the downhill.

Man, you sure know have to have fun with a car - and it shows! Great job for reminding us all, it’s about the journey, not just the destination.

Photo of the offending bolt heads... Reverse of the wheels... The die grinder bought for the suspension is helping to pay for itself by making the wheels fit too, I’ll swap over to the cylinder bit when I do the job for real tomorrow morning, but wanted to check that it will do the job... Just after a little tickle... I’ll get the tyres swapped over tonight now I’m sure I’ll be able to grind enough off to get them to fit.

Now the proton is “almost” finished I wanted to clear out the garage as a lot of junk and tools had piled up during the strip down / painting / build up of it. It looks a complete mess in the photos but it’s in the halfway through stage before everything finds its new home. On bank holiday Monday and last night I put up these shelves using offcut boards from the elgrand audio build and moved the red toolbox from the other side of the garage... This brown cabinet was moved from under the work bench next to the door so I could push the spare Acty engine out of the way under the bench. This cabinet will act as a divider between the storage / working area and the end where my Acty lives... This is the space I need to clear for the Acty to fit back in - it’s a combination of stuff to sell / give away / throw away / fit to cars ... Once clear I plan to remove anything from the walls down the Acty end and paint walls and floor white and get some white covers to fit over the front of the grey shelving - basically to make that area as bright as possible to make the Acty more visible and easier to see things when working on it.

Loving this. Always thought a Proton just needed some judicious use of black detailing and de-badging. Kudos for finding the good-sauce in the unloved... Not sure if people know but Protons are badge engineered old 4th Gen Mitsubishi Colt aka Lancer 'Fiore' / Mirage So there's maybe options for a few choice baubles to bolt on if you trawl around on ebay.co.jp. just' sayin' Press shot Nice on Rotas Another good race one. Grille is a lot nicer on the 'bishis Wagon - who knew? Little bit Ooof. Little bit awful. 3-door Colt/Mirage Hatch version is tight. I think the question must be "Can you fit an EVO engine in it?"

Cheers for the photos - I know of the Mitsubishi connection thanks to Simon on the forum who I bought a replacement passenger door from Apparently according to previous proton threads any 4 cylinder Mitsubishi engine up to a certain age will fit but that’s beyond my budget / intentions / skill set.

Cheers. yes that’s definitely one of my favourites - hoping to get the back lower soon so it will look nicer from that angle. Garage tidying seems to be an endless task and reshuffles - as soon as i take the truck out the space just fills up around it but when I get it back it will be too good to use as a drawer so need to get organised now.

This week’s Saturday morning fun was read spring chop time... 14mm lower strut bolt removed and axle pushed down enough (both sides were jacked up and wheels removed so it was free both sides to free the spring... End dipped in paint Strut bolt fitted Spring still holds itself in with car jacked up and strut at full length... I fitted the wheel on the side i had chopped so the axle was less free when I did the other side so it needed a bit of encouragement to drop down enough to free the spring... Rusty wondering what I’m up to this time... Didn’t take photos of the other side but the rest was the same, arty post-work shot... A quick test drive around the corner and a side on shot to check I didn’t have negative rake. There’s more drop in the front coilovers if I did have to sort that out but all is good. The rear arches still rubbed though, I was hoping by chopping the springs they would be stiffer and wouldn’t catch over bumps but they did so, out with the hammer to encourage the 90 degree arch lips to go up slightly... And then a clamp and wood to bend them up as much as possible, really I should cut at each end and then I can bend them up the full 180 degrees but another test drive later and all fine so far.

Went to Coventry motofest today. Saw some cool stuff. Hardly photographed any of it. “Interesting” is as positive as I can get for this... Got wet. Had arguments with Mrs Minty and Ethan. Decided not to mix family and car shows in future. You can’t force the fascination of cars onto others. Ate a picnic in the car. Drove home enjoying the peace whilst everyone else in the car slept. The End.

Not been much action car related. Trip away, rain, and illness have put paid to that. I’ve managed to have a little plastic surgery on my mini micro truck this afternoon though... Placed a few bits together, but still need to file and glue and fill some bits... There’s always the chance that the model looks so cool that the real thing won’t live up to it but hopefully this won’t be the case with these.

Went to Coventry motofest today. “Interesting” is as positive as I can get for this... That really shouldnt be as good as it is, the very thought of painting one of those that colour is enough to make me question peoples intentions, and fitting those wheels to one is so far away from what I would class as acceptable, yet its awesome. I think its awesome anyway. The shape/colour/wheels combo works really well. That red Lancer turbo makes me want a proton saloon. BADLY.
