So I'm trying to wire and ISO into the Polo.
It appears someone has been in there before when installing a handsfree kit.......
So this is what I had to start with
I've traced the red and yellow wire back to the ignition switch so I'm taking that as being the switched live. The black wire is spliced into a brown wire which is the ground wire and the other two bits are speaker cable.
So today I went out and started installing the ISO, I'm using lineman splices, a line of solder over the top and then heatshrink.
I tried to see if I could see a permanent live but I couldn't I did however find this:
that is the aftermarket cigarette lighter. The red wire disappears into the loom and is a permanent live, the black cable is then spliced into the brown (presumably ground) wire from the heater controls with about 3" just sticking out with a bare end. This perplexed me a little.
So first question can I safely splice into this permanent live for the stereo, or will the current be too much, say for example I have the stereo on and a sat nave plugged in?
Second question is, would the stereo turn on with only the switched live and earth hooked up if I switched the ignition on? Because I've tried that and it doesn't haha.
